Collection of fantastic short pieces (Rakhmaninov)

A collection of piano soli that Sergey Rakhmaninov completed collection of fantastic short pieces (げんそうてきしょうひんしゅう, the French language: the Morceaux de Fantaisie, Russian language: ПьесыФантазии) work 3 in 1892. Even if it is a personality short piece, it is hard to classify all movements in a fantasy and should say that therefore the title reflects a fantastic atmosphere of the music rather than say that I point to the music form. I may translate it as a collection of fantastic short pieces of music.

About third music and the fifth music, a revised edition was made in 1940 after the visit to the United States, and the third music "melody" was largely renewed soon.

Musical piece

The first music sad song (elegy)

Sad song (a start department corrects it, and two measures of beginnings leave it out)

I am translated as the elegy. An original title is the French language; Élégie (in the Russian language Элегия). A musical piece of the strange E minor by the speed of the in moderate time. A ternary form.

It is often played by a slow tempo comparatively probably because I am full of a meditation-like feeling by the music concentration most. The recording to a piano roll of Rakhmaninov is left, but parts unlike score appear.

The second music overture

Recording, 1919 to Edison Corporation of Rakhmaninov. (5.3MB) 3:48

前奏曲嬰 C minor. The famous subject in the recapitulation

The piano music that is the certainly most famous in an initial work of Rakhmaninov in this product. From the impression, I may be called "bells" (Moscow) commonly. In 嬰 C minor, I am comprised of a ternary form in previous music in the same way. Structure is enlarged in recapitulation and forms an impressive climax. The shift of the last chord in several measures suggests the beginning of the piano concerto second. An original title is the French language; Prélude (in the Russian language Прелюдия).

The third music melody

E major, a ternary form. The modest short piece which is played in an adagio sostenuto. An original title is the French language; Mélodie (in the Russian language Мелодия).

Melody E major 1892 version (music head)

The right hand accompanies the calm melody which the left hand begins to sing like a cello with rhythm of 三連符 and begins. The intermediate part is nothing but ゼクエンツ of ヴァリアンテ based on the start subject, and the repetition of the modulation is impressive. I give structure and volume right before it is contained in recapitulation, and a powerful climax is formed.

I am led to the accompaniment of the arpeggio of the right hand floating rootlessly in the version in 1940, and the melody of the left hand begins, and a change of the harmony and an interstitial climax and a general modification including the insertion of the cadenza in the coda are seen.

The fourth music buffoon

Than a buffoon

嬰 F minor, allegro ヴィヴァーチェ, the short piece of the ternary form. The change of the expression that is heavy by the modulation that is frequent although being short is impressive. The jocular motif is 愧 じない in the name of "the buffoon". An original title is the French language; Polichinelle (in the Russian language Полишинель).

The fifth music serenade

Strange ロ minor key A serenade by the rhythm of the waltz. It is a minor key, but, unlike [depressed serenade] of Tchaikovsky, is occupied for the feeling that I made merry with. An original title is the French language; Sérénade (in the Russian language Серенада).
