Summary

The network operating system of the open source made a fork from Vyatta Core for free of Vyatta. Development is carried out to a base in version 6.6 R1. The brocade communications systems that purchased Vyatta decides development cancellation of Vyatta Core Edition.

Release

VyOS 1.0.0 (Hydrogen) was released on December 22, 2013 [1]; [2]. 1.1.0 (Helium) was released on October 9, 2014 [3]. All released versions are based on Debian 6.0 (Squeeze), and an image for 32 bits and 64 bits is provided for both real machine and virtual machine until now [2].

The name of the next release is going to become Lithium by a naming convention.

VMware support

The release for the OVA image of VyOS for VMware exists than version 1.0.2. All the tools for VMware are included, and simple and easy setup of VyOS in the VMware environment is in this way enabled. I can download it from the standard downloading site and can download the OVA image from VMware [4].

Amazon EC2 support

The Amazon EC2 user becomes able to use AMI image of VyOS than version 1.0.2 [5].
