Sharpnose stingray

Kind of the ray that jeering Leahy (Dasyatis acutirostra) belongs to whipray department. I am distributed over the East China Sea from Minami Nihon. A rostrum resembles ズグエイ (D. zugei) for a long time, but can distinguish it with the length or a tail. The IUCN performs the associate extinction with feeling uneasy about it.

Classification

Before scientific mention, I was confused with ズグエイ D. zugei by various documents including examination of board gills by Jordan and Fowler of 1903 from Japan [2]. In 1988, Kiyonori Nishida and Kazuhiro Nakaya announced the study of the D. zugei class group including mention of this seed to "an ichthyology magazine". The specific epithet is associated with acuti (sharp), rostra (rostrum) of the Latin. As for the type specimen, male East China Sea product, a mature form of body board 72.5cm in width [2].

Distribution

With the record that is known from Minami Nihon and depth 53-142m of the East China Sea, but is uncertain from the Gulf of Guayaquil, Ecuador [3]. A bottom occurs like most whiprays [1].

Form

The width is approximately equal to the length of the body board, and the edge is round. The extremity becomes dented and leads to the long triangular rostrum. The eyes have a spout-hole bigger than it small. 鼻褶後縁 is a bunch form by a straight line. The mouth bends loosely, and floor of mouth does not have the papillary process. 40-51, the lower jaw are placed in the five points form in 39-49, and the maxillary dentition becomes the pavement-formed surface. The maturity male has sharp cusp, but a young fish and the female tooth are dull. The ventral fin is wide and is triangular. The tail is longer than a body board with a whip form; in the top surface of 1-2 is thorny. With the upheaval that there is 下部皮褶 behind a splinter, and is slight on the back [2].

30 nodules form a line on the back midline, and there are 16 nodules the splinter ahead. The rear of the splinter is covered with a small skin tooth. The color of the body is ecru, but the ventral is white. I resemble ズグエイ, but size at the time of the maturity to lack in 上部皮褶 of the tail which an eyeball has a big is big and can distinguish it at various points [2].

Habits

The life cycle almost understands nothing. An immature male of body 35.4cm in width, a maturity male of 72.5cm are provided [1]. Probably, like other whiprays, it is coercion board-related developing in the womb [3].

Allied with the person

The data of fish catches are not provided, but seem to be fished in coast trawl net, the fixed shore nets such as Japanese offings. It is easy to be affected by the fishery pressure, and the IUCN performs the associate extinction with feeling uneasy about it because distribution level is limited [1].
