Anecdote
- After having left the home town for Tokyo, I worked as a student in Michitsura Nozu's house. I would marry a daughter of Nozu by the relationship, but she was a child born in the times when Uehara worked as a student, and, in 18 precessional equinoxes, Uehara was 36 years old at marriage and considerably married late in life for those days.
- That when Nozu of the father-in-law acted as the first military commander at the time of Sino-Japanese War, serve it as the staff officer of the military, a staff officer first mate, and act as the chief of staff when Nozu acts as the fourth military commander at the time of Russo-Japanese War; was related. This is one of the acquaintances personnel affairs, and it is said to another view that Uehara who is a son-in-law was the only one the staff officer being acted as because Nozu was a great crab.
- I work on upbringing of the military engineer technology in Japan eagerly and I pay pocket money and invite a carpenter and a steeplejack to the home, and there is the anecdote that I wrote basics work manual for teaching while letting you demonstrate it. Therefore when I go to practice even after becoming 工兵監, I do it by oneself until the work of the rank and file, and it is said that military engineer officers were frightened at it.
- On the other hand, when a certain military engineer officer whom oneself criticized severely argued saying it "is wrong that 兵監 said", I worried when Uehara might fly into a rage with other officers, but, as for Uehara who thought for a while, there were "present comment, the place that stated, it is a mistake, and accepted one's error, and listened to the right opinion properly of Yusaku".
- After Uehara told, "I trained a Japanese military engineer well strictly, but did not have a hard fight that much in Port Arthur if it was that only one oversight neglected a tactics study and the training of the fortress capture by the military engineer particularly the gallery digging strategy and did this" following the fact that the Japanese military (General Maresuke Nogi conduct) had a hard fight by a Port Arthur siege war at the time of the Russo-Japanese War very much, and Russo-Japanese War was over, a study of the fortress capture round began under the direction of Uehara promptly and practiced the first fortress capture in Ogura parade ground in (1906) in 1906.
- I like great reading mainly on military affairs book and, according to Hitoshi Imamura who served an adjutant, read the French original book, and it is said that there was understanding as well as military affairs widely. I was felt unpleasant from all around persistently, but it was emitted from very large knowledge and states that you should have admired it and talks about the adjutant era in detail. In addition, I tell when I told that I establish the Department of the Air Force for the air defense (1931) in in 1931 and cannot but make an independent air force.
- It is said that I state, it "is Nogi that I lack in objectivity (evaluation of third military and Nogi) and am against a fact, and dropped Port Arthur, and there is not it in Kodama" about contents of the secret Japan and Russia history of a war that Hisao Tani made, and Uehara criticized it according to Imamura
- Although withdrawal of troops was decided by the Siberia dispatch of troops by an international agreement, Uehara who was President staff officer refuses it by the reason of "a supreme command dried conviction" in those days. I launch an all-out attack on a Russian side on the previous night of the withdrawal agreement conclusion and occupy Vladivostok as soon as an original cabinet adopts withdrawal of troops at a Cabinet meeting with the approval of Secretary of State for War Yoshikazu Tanaka. Only result, Japan would be stationed in the Siberia and, in response to international criticism, in this way became the remote cause of the nun Port case again. When Prime Minister Takashi Hara criticizes Uehara with "a plot of the General Staff Office" absolutely, and Tanaka whom I flew into a rage with is going to replace Uehara, Uehara entreats elder statesman Aritomo Yamagata and prevents a replacement plan.
- I formed "Uehara clique" led by a person from Kyushu and, in the Department of War, was opposed to the Choshu clique. I continued having influence as a general of the army and was opposed to Yoshikazu Tanaka of the Choshu clique. I supported the opposition against Ugaki disarmament by Kazunari Ugaki who performed succession of Tanaka and became the hotbeds of the later Imperial Way school organization. There is the opinion that it became the remote cause of faction, the discord.
Other
- Omori who was a generic name of Ooi Kashimacho where I set up this residence pointed at Uehara among the people concerned with army indirectly (by Ryukichi Tanaka).
- I owned a villa in Ichinomiya-machi, Chiba.
- Aiko of the eldest daughter marries Isei Otsuka of the director of Tokushima Police. I died by atom bomb throwing down during Otsuka はのち Chugoku district inspector-general holding the office.
- With the rumor that is a grandfather of actor Ken Uehara (as for the family name of the real name "Ikehata"), a great-grandfather of Yuzo Kayama (Hisayoshi Tsuge "Russo-Japanese War famous admiral biography - person "trace (PHP Institute Office ISBN 978-4-56-966153-7) of the fierce battle" to read). There is a mention, "father is chicken colonel from Kagoshima, but Uehara dies at the age of a junior high student, and the grandfather of the mother's side is Yusaku Uehara of the field marshal." during an article of Ken Uehara, but, as for the relationship with Ken Uehara, it seems that a wrong rumor to be started from an error in writing of the ibidem spread in this in an official family tree of the Ueharas without being admitted at all.
