Superscription The Tale of Genji

Superscription The Tale of Genji

Superscription The Tale of Genji (I come, and a header appears and shows it しゅしょげんじものがたり) is the printed book including the explanatory note of The Tale of Genji published in the Edo era.

Table of contents

Summary

It is a printed book of representative The Tale of Genji of the Edo era along with 源氏物語湖月抄等. It is from all 56 volumes which added one genealogy, one chronological table to publication, text 54 of The Tale of Genji in 一竿斎編, 1673. I place the whole sentence of the text of The Tale of Genji and it is simple and refers notes to it in the form of marginal notes, the headnote and is a thing first for a printed book of The Tale of Genji that an explanatory note is given. "Some things which refer a headnote and the marginal notes that it is easy to the classic such as "superscription Ise story" of (Enpo era two years) (Manji three years) in "superscription ancient and modern times sum songbook" and 1674 of in 1660 at this time, and called themselves "superscription ○○" and superscription ○○" are published, and this book is considered to be one of such a series of publication, too [1]. It may be said that the form this "Genji storybook which served as a commentary" was inherited in almost all of a printed book in the Edo era such as subsequent "絵入源氏物語" and "源氏物語湖月抄" and the printed book of The Tale of Genji after the Meiji era.

絵入源氏物語等 which demanded plainness by using 湖月抄 and a picture having the explanatory note which was more abundant than this book for richness in the Edo era spread. On the other hand, it was often used as an original text of the printed book in the Showa era from the Meiji era. This is because it came to be said that the text of superscription The Tale of Genji is superior to other various printed books. I explain below it in detail more.

Text

A system of the text of superscription The Tale of Genji is a thing of the Blue Picture Book for children book system which was mainstream after the Muromachi era if I greatly say. But I do not understand which manuscript it was based on concretely. It did not depend on the text that I read a directly venerable manuscript, and it is thought that I am made from either of the printed book only containing the The Tale of Genji text which does not include an explanatory note published before this which "biography Saga book The Tale of Genji" came to be called "old printed matter The Tale of Genji "・" 無跋無刊記整版本 "・" no mark Genji "・" bare Genji" by later [2]. Again with 3-jonishi house book and the different original alternate version Kawachi book and the indication that often agree [3].

I had a discussion whether text of 湖月抄 which was a representative printed book of the Edo era and text of this superscription The Tale of Genji and which were superior along with this book and the text of, as a result, this superscription The Tale of Genji came to be evaluated saying "it is the most root of future good fortune among Blue Picture Book for children system printed books" [4] and, until the early days of the Showa, was slightly late again "companion temple pocket edition" companion temple bookstore (1930) by Tetsuzo Tsukamoto, "(former) The Tale of Genji (1927) by Hisamoto Shimazu for Iwanami library" and and, after the Meiji era, was adopted "cherry tree maple Corporation version The Tale of Genji" by Tadayoshi Imaizumi to the original text of many printed books such as "Kodansha arts and sciences library version The Tale of Genji" (as for the version redecorated for 1,978 years 2000 through 2001) (1974 through 1975).

However, ころから begins in the Taisho era, and many scholars participate and are performed, and it wants to become clear that an only downstream and the text that it cannot be said are near for the Blue Picture Book for children book that the 3-jonishis books where mixture of the text from Kawachi book and the other book is really seen all in are near [5], and the later result collects the text of this superscription The Tale of Genji and 湖月抄 as a result that large Shimamoto, some high quality manuscripts of the Blue Picture Book for children book system including 明融本 are discovered in "The Tale of Genji completion" including a handwriting book of Sadaie Fujiwara in a manuscript investigation of large-scale The Tale of Genji that will bear fruit, and those text was studied in detail and, as for the significance to study in investigating history of biography style of the The Tale of Genji text after the Edo era now, as for the significance in the text study in the meaning to investigate the model of the Blue Picture Book for children book although it remains, does not come to be admitted.

Contents of the explanatory note

The contents of the explanatory note of this book settled contents of the from main old annotation early in the early modern times from the Middle Ages and the contents of this explanatory note are the almost same as a thing of 湖月抄, but become considerably in comparison with 湖月抄 simple. The following books are used for the authority of the explanatory note [6], and it is said whether the real nature explanatory note to often draw into the headnote elsewhere titled "或抄" of unidentified is marginal notes of the author of "superscription Genji" [7], and it is said that the posture that is going to understand "The Tale of Genji" as reading happily generally even if I compare it with "湖月抄" is gone through.
