The village where Shiratakimura (しらたきむら) was located in the middle western district of the Abashiri jurisdiction. The name of a village from the waterfall "foamy fall" in the village.
It merged with Ikutahara-cho, Engaru-cho, Maruseppucho on October 1, 2005 and became a part of Engaru-cho.

Geography
Every direction is surrounded on the mountain. The western part contacts with Kamikawa Subprefectural Office. Yubetsu River flows through the Muranaka part to the east and west, and National highway No. 333, Sekihoku Main Line go along it.
There is the foamy fall which the name of a village is derived from near Shimoshirataki signal box (former Shimo-Shirataki Station) in western village.
