Vanderbilt house

Vanderbilt family (Vanderbilt family) is the clan of the railroad baron who became socially famous in the United States of America in the early 19th century.

The property of the family was built by influential person Cornelius Vanderbilt of the shipping trade and the railway business and finally opened a hand for various industry and came to perform the charitable undertaking in the 20th century. William Henry Vanderbilt of the successor increased property in sons of Cornelius and was the world's richest until I died in 1877. His descendant built a residence in New York, Rhode Island Newport, North Carolina アシュビル, Vermont, various places including Massachusetts Lennox. However, I ended when their glory became the end game in the 20th century.

The most of their residence which there was in Fifth Avenue were demolished and other residences were sold and became the museum. However, as a result, I became the rich whole families to the seventh in history. Originally this family name comes from the Netherlands.

The descendant lives in the United States of America East Coast and the U.K. now.

History

The glory of the whole families began in the fourth Cornelius Vanderbilt (from 1794 to 1877) of nine brothers of the down stream home of Staten Island of New York. The father Jean art loss (from 1620 to 1705) of his great grandfather was a farmer from village of State of Netherlands Utrecht デ Wirth that came to the Netherlands colony of new Netherlands as service under indentures in 1650. When "Vander" ("I came" in Dutch) was added, and the name of the village became "Vanderbilt" (I came from Wirth), and New Amsterdam (current New York) was delivered to the U.K., I came to give family name of Vanderbilt. The family is related to Netherlands noble station wagon da Wirth [1].

Of the person who Cornelius wakes up the shipping trade from studies at 11 years old in a detached room, the 19th century, and it is a railroad baron, and is the richest in the world became alone.

The family owns Michigan Coe with township colonized in about 1875. When I owned Michigan central railroad in 1880, a village called Michigan Vanderbilt was established. Cornelius always lived in the simple house, but families were going to build a luxurious mansion using the wealth. The Al Fred Gwynne Vanderbilt second (from 1912 to 1999) of the second son of Alfred became the breeder of the horse and became the man of influence of the racing world. I win the championship three times, and Harold sterling Vanderbilt (from 1884 to 1970) becomes famous for the America's Cup of the yacht race in sportsdom. The William キッサム Vanderbilt second (from 1878 to 1944) of the older brother of Harold founds the Vanderbilt cup of the car competition. The Cornelius Vanderbilt fourth (from 1898 to 1974) was an expert writer, the newspaper publisher founder, a film producer.

Cornelius has won a gold medal from the government by having contributed steam locomotive SS Vanderbilt to the Federal army by the Civil War. This medal is inherited as a symbol of the Vanderbilt house.

In 1855, brigadier general Cornelius Vanderbilt contributes land of 8.5 acres (34,000 m²) to graveyard and Moravia church of the nu drop of Staten Island. William Henry Vanderbilt of the son contributed land of 4 acres (16,000 m²) more later. A part of this division of the Moravia graveyard is held for Vanderbilt house, and some of the Vanderbilt house are buried in this mausoleum. This mausoleum was designed again in 1885 by the Richard Morris hunting of the architect.

Some of Vanderbilt houses had a talent to get wealth, and John Kenneth Galbraith of the well-known economist contributed the big sum, but told that it would be a part of the self-satisfaction.

One of the descendants of the direct descendant died for poverty after Cornelius death in only 48 years to support an opinion of Galbraith. Ten last mansions which there was in New York Fifth Avenue after Cornelius death in 70 years were demolished. In 1973, the first family council was held in Vanderbilt University.

I might conclude marital status with a European noble like Earl Prince marl rose and セーチェーニ Istvan.

Vanderbilt streets of the Grand Central side where the current remains of the Vanderbilt house were built by Vanderbilt University, the Vanderbilt family of the midtown of Manhattan. A descendant of the current Vanderbilt house is a Rumanian, a Dutchman and Rumanian mixed blood. I still remain a rich family to the seventh in the world.
