Maui (Polynesian myth)

Maui (Polynesian myth)

God whom it is said to that I created many islands floating in the Pacific in a Polynesian myth and the people living there with Maui (Māui). The myth about him is left in Maori, Hawaii, Tahiti of New Zealand, a wide area including Samoa in Polynesia.

It is said that I was born as a grandchild of goddess ヒネ ヌイ テ ポ (en) of the nether world.

I lifted the sky in disgust from the sea to continue only in a dark night and stuck stars there and made starlit sky year in and year out. As a result, wind came to blow, but I decided that he shut in wind in the coconut palm which dug out the contents and started it as needed, but only fall wind escaped till the last. Maui managed the sun next, and it had a very short daytime time, but Maui let the sun approve that I ran the sky slowly to cross the sky at a run till then. I created all creatures which lived in islands afterwards after pulling up the land from all over the sea, and having stolen the fire that was the finger of hands and feet of muff cuttlefish (en) equal to ancestors.

Death of Maui is talked about in the New Zealand myth as follows. Maui made up its mind to get into the body of ヒネ (ヒネ ヌイ テ ポ) which was a grandmother to get an everlasting life. Because the tooth of the stone reached the vagina a sharp tooth in her mouth as for father, I told you that it was dangerous, but transformed myself into the green caterpillar which shined without Maui fluttering a will. And I have been crushed by a vaginal tooth in ヒネ which noticed a situation because after being going to enter the vagina of ヒネ, birds which were a friend of Maui that looked at it burst into laughter [1].
