The iron bottom sound (English: Ironbottom Sound) is a sea area existing in the sabot island of the Solomon Islands, the south of Florida Islands, the north of Guadalcanal Island (the straits). During the Pacific War, large number of vessels, planes set in this sea area by a fight of Guadalcanal Island which became the Japan-U.S. great war of attrition. Because the wreckage of the steel filled up the bottom of the sea, it came to be called iron bottom sound (the iron bottom straits). It is famous now as a famous spot of scuba diving.
