The D grade destroyer (English: D-class destroyer) warship grade of the British naval torpedo boat destroyer (TBD) [1]. When warship grade of the destroyer was arranged in alphabetical order in 1913, among warships constructed as 30 knotters type (British: Thirty knotter class), the warship of two chimneys was performed re-classification of by this warship grade [2].

Origin

The British navy started the maintenance of the new warship class called the torpedo boat destroyer (TBD) from 1892 to be opposed to the expansion of the French naval torpedo boat force that assumed ジューヌ エコール a background [3]. There was this on the basis of the deployment of the light weight high power organization which adopted the lightweight hull which enlarged a torpedo boat and a water-tube boiler, and each model constructed first realized a speed of 27 knots [4].

The British navy which confirmed the success of these 27 knotters type (later in the Class A re-classification) started 30 knotters-shaped maintenance as the development type that planned further speed improvement than a plan in 1894 and constructed 74 by 1903. The warship of two chimneys of these was performed re-classification of as D grade afterwards when warship grade of the destroyer was arranged in alphabetical order in 1913 [2].

Design

Because the Class C which performed re-classification of Class B and three chimney warships which performed re-classification of four chimney warships was constructed at plural shipyards, as for two chimney warships, all the warships are made in Thornycroft Corporation whereas warship types were various, and the warship types are almost unified. The fabric is similar to 27 knotters type (Class A) and becomes that I strengthen a torpedo boat, and all spread. I was considered to be a good carapace of a turtle type of the drainage (turtle back) not to scoop seawater because I was assumed a low platform type of the freeboard to delay the discovery from an enemy when a bow shoved it in the surge. In addition, flare was referred to decrease the close of the wave to a backward shell a little from a bow, and, from the neighborhood of bridge deck to the neighborhood of stern, the neighborhood of draft line was the widest, and the freeboard adopted a shape of the tumble home which did an inner degree of leaning to the hull. In addition, a dent to put a part of the propeller tip is referred to the stern bottom part [5].

As for a lot of B, Class C, the D grade was equipped with Thornycroft 式石炭専焼水管 boiler three cans whereas I comprised the boiler of the form four cans. I install the second chimney in the rear end of the canned third in the first chimney between canned 1.2 turn again. The steam property was pressure 220–250psi (15–18kgf/cm²), saturated temperature. The main engine was made of Thornycroft, too, and three steps of expansion four-cylinder reciprocating steam engines were followed. It is the biaxial promotion by three with the book grade whereas B, the Class C was biaxial promotion with two main planes. The engine output is 5,700HP. In the marine public trial, I achieved an expected speed of 30 knots except a part [6].

Equipment

On the equipment side, the thing of 27 knotters type (Class A) was followed. The navel gun for 水雷艇撃攘 was considered to be the first weapon of the destroyer, and five 40-caliber of 5.7cm guns (6 pounds gun) were equipped with as one 40-caliber of 7.6cm gun (12 pounds gun), secondary gun for the main battery [7]. The main battery was put on the platform just after the bow deck [2].

In addition, two 18 inches of torpedo tubes are equipped with because the falling of a thunderbolt duty like the torpedo boat was demanded with 水雷艇撃攘 [2].
