A Cathay Pacific Airways 700Z service blast case (Cathay Pacific Airways 700Z びんばくはじけん) is the plane blast case that occurred on June 15, 1972.

Outline of the case

Cathay Pacific Airways (the U.K. territory Hong Kong family register) 700Z service conveyer 880 (registration sign VR-HFZ) traveling as Hong Kong going via Thailand Bangkok from Singapore on June 15, 1972 took off from Bangkok and flew 8,840 meters of Central Highlands sky of South Vietnam with 648 kilometers per an hour [2] [3].

This airway was given priority to over a warplane to go to North Vietnam bombing and the Viet Cong sweep by U.S. forces for the Vietnam War. Therefore it was usual that a crew watched the outside as for the commercial airliner via the airway such as the corridor for this commercial airplane.

The 700Z service caused an airburst suddenly at about 2:00 p.m. in local time and crashed in the jungle of pre-Iku who left Saigon (existing: Ho Chi Minh city) 300 kilometers. Ten crews who boarded a passenger plane, all 81 people of 71 passengers in total were in this way sacrificed. People of various nationality were included in a passenger, and 17 Japanese were included in that. 12 people of those were parties of the propane gas distributor of Gunma that was in the middle of returning home from the training trip to Southeast Asia [4] and were all men of influence of the same profession world in Gunma.

Accident cause

I was considered to have been shot down by intention or a fault at first by the shooting by mistake of the American air-force plane and some kind of unhappy causes. In fact, seven American military planes flew at the time of the accident outbreak near by and were not able to deny the possibility that the land-to-air missile which Viet Cong fired for an American military plane hit it directly.

However, it became clear that the explosion occurred not a factor by the outside the plane in a plane because the trace that the piece which occurred in a plane was scattered towards the outside was discovered as a result of investigation into accident cause. At first a bomb set by the cargo bay exploded, and the seat which jumped out of the plane by the shock destroyed a vertical tail and the fuel tank of the right wing, and, by the analysis of the flight data recorder, a fire occurred, and, besides, I was estimated by the damage of the control cable when the body which I could not steer it and fell into was high-speed, and it dropped while dismantling it [3].

Suspect

As the suspect who set a bomb in her suitcase for the purpose of the Thai criminal investigation agency killing the woman of the fiance and the daughter, and fraud doing the insurance, I arrested the captain of the Thailand Police and prosecuted it. However, the guilt could not prove it, and the captain was found innocent two years later.
