Three Emperors and the Five Saints
Eight emperors [1] of the Chinese myth legend era ancient as for the Three Emperors and the Five Saints (さんこうごてい).
The three great kings and the legendary five emperors knew it (there are various opinions who corresponds), and it was said that God, the legendary five emperors had the character as the saint, and the three great kings were done with an ideal monarch.

Three great kings

Origin of the title called the emperor
After conquering other six countries, and having unified China, in B.C. 221, Shi Huangdi (at first King Hata) 嬴 政 of Hata let 王綰, Li Ssu and others chief vassals consult a title above the title of the monarch called previous "King". Chief vassals recommended it to use the title of "秦皇" which was the top among the three great kings saying that I transcended the ancient legendary five emperors, but I coined a word, and oneself used the new title which a thought to be a new person that was holier than this Three Emperors and the Five Saints said to with "the emperor" who put 皇 and emperors together for 嬴 政 as a name for oneself ("Historical Memoirs").
After that the Chinese ruler will give emperor.
