da Vinci III (Da Vinci III or Leonardo III) is the human power helicopter which California Polytechnic State University produced in 1989. I succeeded in surfacing of 20cm for 7.1 seconds in 1989.

Association of United States helicopter established the Sikorsky Prize who gave the engineer who succeeded in perpendicular surfacing more than 3m the prize money with human power more than 60 seconds in 1980. Da Vinci III challenges Sikorsky Prize and is the first human power helicopter which surfaced first. In da Vinci III, a body was lightweighted to 44 kg using composite material, and a blade length was 15.24m, and the rotary speed was 15.24m per second.

The flight test that the committee of the Sikorsky Prize was present at was carried out on 29th and December 10 on November 12, 1989. It ended in a 2-second rise in two times of examinations of the beginning and achieved a flight of 20cm in height by the flight on December 10 for 7.1 seconds, but was not able to meet a rule of the Sikorsky Prize. I maintained it until YURI-I of Nippon University updated the record of the flight hours of the human power helicopter in 1994.
