Temperance movement in Lithuania

Temperance movement in Lithuania is temperance movement developed in Lithuania after the middle in the 19th century (Lithuanian: blaivybės sąjūdis).

On October 11, 1858, モティエユス ヴァランチュス of the ジェマイティヤ bishop began temperance movement. A temperance group was established in all parishes. It is said that the alcohol consumptions decreased to a one-fifth in two years. The Czarist Russia authorities considered this temperance movement to be the menace to empire and forbade spreading exercise in 1863. Therefore the consumption of the vodka increased again.

The beginning of 20th century, a temperance group was rebuilt. You eggplant rose trendy ska and ヴィンツァス クディルカ, Jonah's バサナヴィチュス, my Lonnis, ヴァイジュガンタス, Vee Doe eggplant, plastic eggplant ヴァイチャイティス propelled temperance movement. In 1908, Catholic priests of Kaunas established association of Lithuania Catholicism temperance (Lithuanian: Lietuvos katalikųblaivybės draugija) and developed activity at a national level. The association had the member of 212 branch offices and approximately 6,000 as of 1914.

On June 14, 2007, 2008 was declared with "a year of the temperance" by 国会決議第 X-1185.
