Necrotic meningoencephalitis (えしせいずいまくのうえん British: Necrotizingmeningoencephalitis: NME) is a disease to occur mainly on a pug, a Pekingese, a small dog species including the Shih Tzu. Another name is called pug encephalitis (Pug dog encephalitis).

A characteristic and cause

Because it is the chronic cerebropathy that inflammation such as necrosis happens in the whole brain, and NME is frequent in a pug as a dog species, I am called pug encephalitis, but there is a report of the onset to Pomeranian, the Maltese dog which were the three branch families of the Tokugawa house of the sleeve dog, Yorkshire terrier elsewhere in a Pekingese and Shih Tzu, a French bulldog, Chihuahua, papillon and the Showa era. It is thought that some kind of hereditary factors participate because the dog species receiving a report of these NME tends to be high in the prevalence of hydrocephalus and genuine epilepsy (epilepsy). However, the cause of NME is unclear, and the cure is not found, too.

Progress and symptom

In NME, cerebrocortical; occur, and gradually progress to basal nuclei, cerebellum, brainstem, and the clinical manifestations progress with it, too. When an attack, failure of muscular coordination, a wheel, a visual disorder are seen, and they progress as an early case, it is hard to swallow deep sleep and unconsciousness, an eating disorder, and swimming exercise produces it, and aggravation progresses rapidly in several weeks from a few days. And when I cannot control necrosis of the brain by treatment, the neurologic abnormality such as blindness, torticollis, astasia, a drinking water disorder, the coma suddenly progresses, and I result in death in several weeks, or only 1st reaches the situation that cannot but do euthanasia with hopeless from an attack.
