M734 multi-option fuse (M734 Multioption Fuze) is a fuse developed for the cannonball of the trench mortar. An airburst at the designated altitude is enabled.

I am used in three kinds of trench mortars of 60mm, 81mm and 120mm.

I become strong in electronic interference by a method to sense an operation point by the FMCW (frequency modulated continuous wave) method synthetic aperture radar using the DDR (directional doppler ranging) wave.

Mechanism

The fuse comprises three kinds of safety devices.

If a current of air of 70 feet/s lasts 100 meters to a turbine AC generator and does not prove right, I do not operate.

I can set the tool to adjust a fuse without need by turning the upper part by hand. Besides, I can set it again and again again. There is not the safety pin unlike a conventional fuse.

There are four kinds of letters in the circumference of the fuse and becomes each abbreviation in three characters.

  1. PRX - PRoXimity air burst: It explodes at aim sky 1-4m.
    • In the case of 60/81mm trench mortar bullet, it explodes in 7 feet (2.1m) of m.
    • In the case of a 120mm trench mortar bullet, it explodes in 14 feet (4.3m) of m.
  2. NSB - Near Surface-Burst: It explodes at aim sky 0-1m.
  3. IMP - IMPact: It explodes at the moment when it hit the ground.
  4. DLY - DeLaYed detonation: It explodes 0.05 seconds after an impacted bomb.
