Career
I play an active part in the AMA supermarket motorcycle championship as a contract rider of the Yoshimura sea bass. Intense rival relations with Wayne Rainey began from that time. It is participated in the war as an ace of the sea bass fully from 1988 by the road race world championship 500cc class. I develop an intense top fight with wine Gardner of the champion in the previous year and, by the first round Japan GP, accomplish dramatic first championship. I win the championship at the rainy GP in Germany in this season and I give two wins in a season and get the ranking eighth place. In addition, it is participated in the war to this age by two races of the Macao GP. I ran Willy in order to avoid dead leaves and won the championship at a characteristic run.
シュワンツ showed the speed at first, but I suffered retirement of the same number though a lot of retirement by a fall and the machine trouble marked most six wins more than Eddie Lawson which acquired a title in a season in 1989, and the ranking remained in the fourth place. I played a close battle in many races such as GP in Japan, 1991 Germany GP, 1993 Japan GP with Wayne Rainey of Yamaha in 1989.
I wear steady race progressing, and, in 1993, シュワンツ led a fight for point, but, because of the injury that takes you, and was due in an accident of the U.K. GP, permits final stage Rainey a reversal. However, during the twelfth round Italy GP final, Rainey suffers the serious wound that an athletic career is cut off by a fall and retires. シュワンツ repeats points smoothly and reverses Rainey with a point again and wins a long-cherished title. But I defeated Rainey on a circuit, and シュワンツ which came with the goal of winning spoke, "a champion is not necessary if his injury was cured." and expressed a feeling of the discouragement that lost a rival than the joy that acquired the first title.
I raised athlete's number 1 ("34" to be able to be called his symbol was written down in the center small) which was the proof of the champion in 1994, the following day and challenged a straight victory, but I suffered from the physical damage called the injury of the left wrist and the damage of the heart that lost biggest rival, Rainey and remained in two wins by Japan GP and the U.K. GP. I continue challenging the same year daringly while protecting the left arm which got injured for Michael Doohan of Honda piling up a point in irresistible force by the GP in the U.K. and succeed in an overtake by proud breaking. I won the championship in ドニントン park to be proud, and this became last championship for シュワンツ.
After having been absent from third war Japan GP last in 1995, I express a retirement by sixth round Italy GP (in an airplane of the way home from GP in Japan, it is said that I decided a retirement after talks with Rainey). Was freed from some strong pressure while letting looked at the left wrist wounded in then, and eyes be wet; is refreshing; turned up. There was little number of the annual champion acquisition for the number of the victory and was once, but I bathed in an overwhelming shout of joy in the thrilling run and continued being a popularity No. 1 racer from 88 through 94.
In 2013, it is participated in the war from the Mt. team Kaga by Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race. The best lap of the thing that there was not the speed of the heyday fully shows the ability as the legendary rider without falling from two people of the team only for approximately two seconds. This race team wins a third place winners' platform.
I participate in the war from a legend team made in commemoration of the Yoshimura 60th anniversary by the Suzuka 8 Hours in 2014, the following day. In the final that became the start in rain, I fall down without Takuya Tsuda who is same Yoshimura being able to come to the end of Nobuatsu Aoki of the starting rider to the fifth lap in 130R though I set it in a back straight. シュワンツ was over without being able to start again because a tire came off from a rim without running.
Style
It features a riding form utilized the high stature of the on the small side. I sat up, and the daring style to handle a machine by long hands and feet skillfully was compared to rodeo. I might say a baby face, and the beginning of debut was called the Pinocchio son.
A characteristic of the riding of シュワンツ includes deep bank corner and rate brakes. シュワンツ had few races called runaway championship and developed close combat from beginning to end and showed races to delay breaking near a goal, and to recapture the first place, and to have victory in its hand by a narrow margin well. Gun lap is daring, and, as a symbolic race of シュワンツ, it often includes Germany GP by the breaking of the entrance of the stadium section in Wayne Rainey in 1991 when I overtook it. It has crashed during a first place runaway, and there were many falls so as to be exceptional for a top rider, but RGV-Γ at the time is engine power for NSR and YZR of the rival, and I was going to cover it at overwhelming cornering speed, but this is considerably a reason because I was inferior.
Episode
- Athlete's number "34" which I used for many years from the super motorcycle era became the WGP's first permanently retired uniform number (only in the greatest displacement volume class).
