("I Want To Hold Your Hand") which "I want to hug" is the fifth piece original single music that the Beatles announced in November, 1963. It is an early masterpiece and is ranked the 16th place in greatest song 500 to all thyme to choose of the rolling stone.

Commentary

A work of Lennon = McCartney. The vocal is John Lennon and Paul McCartney. I begin with the dynamic introduction that all musical instruments select a riff as, and, as for the intermediate part (bridge), as for the unison, the second, John sings by a melody the first, and a pole touches the upper harmony. The melody was conscious of United States-like gospel and, as a result, will sweep over an American market in this music.

Bob Dylan mistakes one paragraph "I can't hide" of this music for "I get high"; "the Beatles sings a drug song"; it is said that と thought. Dylan is said to be the music that was a chance to convert to a lock from a folk song at the same time.

Stereo version

The rial stereo version of "I want to hug it" was recorded in a compilation album "oldie" stereo board released in December, 1966.

In the United States, I was released in compilation "20 Greatest Hits" released in October, 1982 for the first time. And "the meat the Beatles" before it was "the Beatles 1962 through 1966" (stereo board), and a para-stereo version was recorded.

With the CD, I was collected in album "past Masters Vol.1" released in March, 1988.

As for the music of Naoko, three stereo versions were produced.

  1. Board collecting for 1,963 years (a vocalist the right) for in Australia
  2. Board collecting for 1,965 years (central a vocalist) for in Germany
  3. Board collecting for 1,966 years (about the same with a version for 1,965 years) for in the U.K.

Mixture made a CD is an edition today for 66 years. This product is the musical piece that the Beatles made 4 truck recording for the first time.

Single record

With the billboard magazine, I get the ranking first place in a week on February 1, 1964. It is the first place in the annual ranking for 1,964 years. In addition, with the cashbox, I record the consecutive first place for eight weeks and become the first place even a year. With single "sea ラヴズ you of the previous work," it is the music that determined their popularity. The B-side is U.K., Japan; "a JIS boy" in the United States "eye so her standing there" [explanatory note 1].

I recorded more than 1700000 sales more than 5 million pieces in the U.K. only in the United States and became the million seller following "sea ラヴズ you". I sell 12 million pieces throughout the world. The world each generation single sales fifth place (by the Guinness world レコーズ authorization).

In Japan, it was released as a debut single person on February 5, 1964 (TOSHIBA music industry odeum label, OR-1041). I selected "please please me" as debut music of the Beatles in Japan by the TOSHIBA music industry at first, but release was front-loaded in consideration of a hurrah in the United States in a hurry. Therefore (OR-1024) where "please please me" is the record number at the time of the release younger for 1,964 years. In addition, with the thing which place "please please me" in as the first single without the substitution of the jacket being in time for of the initial lot because release order was changed after printings such as jackets already began [2].

"(German) that I want to hug it" ("Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand" / John Lennon - Paul McCartney - Jean Nicolas - Heinz Hellmer) is for German of "I want to hug it".

Commentary

"Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand" is English, and, in other words, "Come, give me your hand" means, "I come and want to take your hand". Not only the title but also the lyrics are considerably paraphrased. Jean Nicolas of the person of translation of a song, Heinz Hellmer are the same people and are a pen name of キャミロ フェルゲン which is a talent from Luxembourg. One paragraph "("O du, bist du schön, schön wie ein Diamant") where you are beautiful like a diamond" comes out to the lyrics, but it is thought that this is intended to put original one paragraph "You'll let me be your man" and nice rings of this part together.

It is said that the back truck misappropriates a thing of the original English version according to mark ルウィーソン work "Beatles / recording session". As well as "sea ラヴズ you (German)," harmony and pronunciation are more sloppy than English version; is finished.

It is recording made for a fan of West Germany by the strong request of the West Germany Branch odeum of the EMI. The recording is carried out in pate Marconi studio of Paris on January 29, 1964, and "sea ラヴズ you (German) are recorded on the same day, too" [explanatory note 2].

The Beatles does not perform an interest in this recording, and it is said that I stayed at the hotel where I stayed in without going to the studio which I reserved on the day of the recording. George Martin of the producer went to a hotel and let I scolded it severely, and the Beatles leave for the studio. It is said that there was not so that they resisted a producer.

I was released for the first time in album "rare re-Tees" released on December 2, 1978 eight and a half years after the Beatles dissolution in the U.K. I was released in album "something nu" released on July 20, 1964 in album "Beatles No. 5!" released on May 5, 1965 in Japan in the United States.

Stereo version

The stereo version of "(German) that I wanted to hug" was not released with the original form during the activity of the Beatles and was released for the first time in compilation album "rare re-Tees" that the Beatles was dissolved, and was released more than eight years later. But I was released in a stereo board of the editing album "something nu" in the United States.

Parody hommage

There is the scene where "Dekho Ab To" (language of India which I want to hug) where a band and a chief character and a woman to remind of the Beatles in the scene in the dance hall in "JAANWAR" of the Indian movie of 1965 arranged this song in a マサラ movie style is sung for. Movie in itself is a romantic comedy about the Beatles, too.
