Friedrich Carl Schmitt (Friedrich Karl Schmidt, Russian excellent :ФёдорБогдановичШмидт, Fyodor Bogdanovich Schmidt, from January 15, 1832 to November 9, 1908) is a geologist, a botanist of the Barthes German.

I was born now in Estonian (Russian Empire territory) Kaisma. After having learned botany in dollar part University, I continued studying it in Moscow and continued studying it by help of association of Tal toe natural history and got a geologic degree, and it was a lecturer from assistant vice-director, 1858 of the dollar part University botanical garden from 1858. I participated in the Amur, the scientific exploration of Sakhalin from 1859 through 1863 and led the Siberia exploration of the Russian scientific academy which reached the Yenisei from 1866 through 1867, and the freezing specimen of the mammoth was discovered by this exploration for the first time. I injured health by this exploration and cured in Germany. I studied geology, the paleontology afterwards in Estonia. I was chosen as a regular member in part-time service member, 1884 in associate member, 1874 in 1872 of the St. Petersburg science academy. I served the director of the academy mineral Museum for 27 years from 1873. Interchange with Sweden and a German scholar, and attend at international Geological Society; of the held sponsor of international Geological Society of St. Petersburg of 1897 became alone, and guided Estonian outdoors visit society. When I participated in a congress of the United States of America, I observed the Silurian in eastern Canada and the Ordovician stratum.

I checked stratum and the fossil of the sill re-period of the eastern part of Barthes area and studied the stratigraphy of the ゴットランド island of Sweden and published Estonia, a figure of stratum of the St. Petersburg area in 1878. There is the writing about the fossil of the fish of the geological feature and sill re-period of the glacial epoch, too. These studies studied the trilobite using the specimen which they collected of ボルボルス (Alexander von Volborth) and E. アイヒヴァルト (Karl Eduard Eichwald).

Schmidt wrote scientific articles more than 200.

I won Wallace ton medal in 1902. I received a honarary doctorate from the Konigsberg University, and I was chosen by a member of Berlin Academy of Science, London Geological Society, Swedish Geological Society, German Geological Society and was members such as Berlin Geographical Association.
