I study the economy, and, as a result, an economist (けいざいがくしゃ British: Economist) is an expert of a provided theory and the economy that I propose the system (economics) in the society and practice. I say the economist.

Characteristic

It is said that there are many pragmatists generally. ^{[By whom?]} If any study is effective for economics, there is a place to respect, and in fact the person from fields such as mathematics, psychology, the physics exists in the influential economist.

When I say "an economist" in Japanese, I it

1. The micro-economist who models relations of a price and the amount of production from the side of individual economy-based supply and demand
2. The macroeconomist who analyzes the trends such as one economic consumption, investment, national income, price level added up as a whole
3. The econometrician who performs mathematics analysis of the economy using mathematics statistics technique
4. The economist who 3 is near, but works in a government office or the financial institution, and judges the policy analysis of the government, the central bank and macroeconomic trends (the narrow sense) mentioned above

I come by などに general classification, and 3 refers to 4 even soon in many cases, but the person studying the study domain that is wider than (Marxian economics) for "an economist" is included.

It is popular, and, as for the person to be introduced to as "an economist", most of fulfill the fourth classification mentioned above. They are specialists in finance, investment, and the basic knowledge in the economics may not learn it and therefore may make a remark including the rudimentary mistake about a policy and the social criticism. The many examples which made a blunder in the policy that an awfully ignorant economist was wrong about the knowledge of the economic policy by a phenomenon to be seen well in the United States in essay "economics (an original title: Pop internationalism) of the economist Paul Krugman that is bad good economics" have this pointed out. Well-known economist
