Tree
The Brazil nut is Brazil, Venezuela, Takagi native to the tropical rain forest around Amazon Basin including Guiana. A mere kind of the Brazil nut genus (Bertholletia). As for the generic name, it is done 献名 by French chemist Claude Louis bell tray.
It is very big and amounts to 50m in height (super Takagi), 2m in diameter of the trunk. The leaf grows each other with 20-50cm in length, an oval approximately 9-15cm in width and sheds the leaves in the dry season.
As for the flower, a majority makes a panicle approximately diameter 3cm with white. The pollination of the Brazil nut is carried out by a special bee (Euglossa spp.), and these bees propagate in a specific orchid (Coryanthes vasquezii) again. Therefore, it may be said that the Brazil nut lives together with these creatures.
The fruit needs 14 months for maturity. The fruit is a spherical capsule of 10-15cm in diameter, and, in a thick husk, a triangle weight-formed seed of 4-5cm in length approximately 10-20 is clogged up radially. A hole is on the tip, but is not broken naturally. The large rodents including the agouti tear a rudder in the natural world and eat a seed of the inside, and the Brazil nut spreads by an action such as burying some seeds.
Fruit, seminal use
The seed of the Brazil nut has been made edible for heavy taste like butter as well as a macadamia nut for a long time by an indigenous people. Oils and fats 70% and the oil-rich saved it, and was considered to be fuel use. The husk of the fruit was used as a container. As for the mature real length, it is weight particularly greatly 2 times as large as an almond in to 2.5 centimeters and nuts. The calorie is abundant, and the fruit of the large Brazil nut is equal to a calorie for one egg. The weight of the husk is approximately 5 kilograms, and the husk which dropped is in danger of suffering a fatal injury when I hit it directly to a head. Therefore I protect the body using a shield for the protection during crop work [1].
Because a growth place is limited, by the symbiosis mentioned above, the Brazil nut has difficulty in production by the cultivation. Amount of production of Bolivia becomes the first place now.
