Boeing 777X (Boeing 777X, Boeing 777 X) is the new series of the Boeing 777 family which American Boeing is developing.

Table of contents

Summary

777X has two derivation type of 777-8 and 777-9. 777X characterizes a new engine provided by development of Boeing 787, a new compound wing, a new technique [2]. I intend to compete with airbus A350.

Development

Suggestion of 777X

In September, 2011, Boeing announced the details about the new machine (777X and generic name) of 777 families which I named 777-8X and 777-9X temporarily [3]. In 777-9X, tailplane is extended in comparison with 777-300ER, and it is extended 7.0 ft (2.13m), and the full length becomes 250 ft 11 in (76.5m) and takes 407 passengers [4]. The full length of 777-9X is going to exceed 250 ft 2 in (76.3m) of Boeing 747-8 that is the world's largest passenger plane in full length now.

Is spread from 212 current ft 7 in (64.8m) by 234 ft (71.3m), and the wingspread is going to use CFRP as structure materials [3]; [5] [6] [7]. With the provisional value, as for the gross weight, it was told 775,000 current lb (352,000 kg) to be lightweighted to approximately 759,000 lb (344,000 kg) in -9X [8]. Boeing examined a super long-distance flight type to become a successor of 777-200LR again and gave a form name of 777-8LX as a design concept to share -9X and fuel capacity and gross weight. The flying range becomes 9,480 nmi (10,910 mi; 17,560km) for 9,395 nmi (10,812 mi; 17,400km) of -200LR [8]. The body length of 777-8LX was considered to be 228.17 ft (69.5m) same as -8X [3]. The service of the first 777X derivation type plans 2019 [9]; [10].

In February, 2012, General Electric slightly announced small GE9X as a derivation type of General Electric GE90 as power source of 777X. GE9X comprises a fan of 128 inches in diameter (330cm) same as GE90-115, and the thrust is lowered to 99,500 lbf (443 kN) in a product for 88,000 lbf (390 kN), -9X and -8LX in a product for -8X by a rating review [11]; [12] [13]. In addition, Rolls-Royce Ltd. suggested Trento 1000 based on a concept of RB3025 and Trento XWB, and Pratt and Whitney suggested PW1000G of thrust 100,000 lbf (440 kN) [3]. However, Boeing chose only GE9X as an engine of 777X in March, 2013 [14]. 777X reviewed specifications of GE9X in response to concern to be lacking in a thrust, and GE increased a thrust afterwards in 102,000 lbf (450 kN) followed by 105,000 lbf (470 kN) [15]. The fan diameter becomes 132 in (335cm) newly, and will comprise the greatest fan in the engine which GE produced so far [16]; [17] [18]. That, according to the report of the Seattle Times of August, 2012, Boeing delays development of 777X, but is a plan to let you go into service by 2019 [19].

The decision to squeeze the engine which it could be equipped with in 1 model caused a discussion. There is the airline grieved that the competition between engine makers does not happen and states that chief executive officer of air lease (English version) company Steven ウドバーヘイジー expects the choice of the engine. When the airbus makes the engine of plural models selectable by commercial airplane, I point out that a purchase price rises by millions of dollars in price. The Pratt and Whitney executive told The Wall Street Journal, "the engine was not コモディティ anymore, and the optimization of the engine which I put together is demanded from a body still more." [20].

777X program

In May, 2013, the board of directors of Boeing approved that a commercial airplane section provided 777X to the customer and started formally [21]. On September 18, 2013, the supervisory board of Lufthansa approved ordering of 34 777-9X to rearrange a 747-400 type machine. Want to be informed that Boeing plans a setup of the 777X series in late 2013 in those days [22]; [23] [24]. I announced that Boeing worked on a design of 777X in Charleston, Huntsville, Long Beach, Philadelphia, the United States, not only the facilities of St. Louis but also facilities of Moscow, Russia in October, 2013 [25].

777 of the Emi Reitz Airlines possession making a line in Dubai International Airport. Emi Reitz Airlines is one of the launch customers of 777X.

In November, 2013, in Boeing, raunch did 777X by Dubai airshow formally for 2,013 years. In addition, want to announce ordering, the reservation of 259 to amount to a total of 95 billion dollars in total [26]; [27]. According to Boeing, this was a civil aviation history the largest order [28]. Boeing received 50 ordering, reservations by Dubai airshow in addition to the commitment of 34 planes which received from Lufthansa in September, 2013 from 25, Qatar Airlines from 150, エティハド Airlines from Emi Reitz Airlines [26]; [29] [30].

The 777X program consists of 2 models. 777-9X is a body extension type larger-scale than 777-300ER, and it is in a super long flying range type of the thing that size is near 777-300ER in 777-8X [29]. Because it is after 2020, the delivery start of 777X faces the problem that Boeing must continue maintaining the effective product line of 777 existing models at [31].

In December, 2013, Cathay Pacific Airways of Hong Kong places an order for 21 777-9X and plans the receipt from 2021 through 2024 [32]. Total unit sales of the Boeing 777 exceeded 747 in April, 2014 and became the wide body passenger plane of the bestseller [33]. In July, 2014, Emi Reitz Airlines established 150 planes of 777-8X 35 of 777-9X 115 in total and placed an order [34]. A Qatari airline established 50 planes with with 50 purchase right on July 16, 2014 and placed an order, and Japanese All Nippon Airways was settled, and it ordered 777-9X 20 on July 31, 2014 [35].

In December, 2014, Boeing started the construction of the new composite factory of 367,000 square feet of bed volume (34,100 m²) in St. Louis to produce parts of 777X. As for the completion, the new employment of approximately 700 people is going to be born in 2,016 years. Include six autoclaves in the factory, and is going to start the production of main wing and tail assembly materials in 2017 [36]; [37].

By Dubai airshow of 2015, Boeing mentions a derivation type such as Boeing 777-8 and 777-9 formally, and I dropped 'X' suffix, but the new series is still sold as Boeing 777X by the name of the individual derivation type [38].

Design

According to the design plan, a cabin design introduced in Boeing 787 is adopted in 777X. Examples include a window bigger than a conventional commercial airplane, high cabin supercharge of the an altitude of 6,000 feet (1,800m) equivalency, an expensive ceiling, the humidity in the high plane [39]. Structure is changed for 777 conventional body designs to extend cabin width while including these refinements [39]. It is planned that I make a wingtip foldable to conclude it within conventional 777 and size of the class [40].

Derivation type

777-8

The full length of 777-8 becomes approximately 350 seats by three classes constitution in the middle of 777-200ER and 777-300ER. 9,300 nmi (17,200km) is the above, and the flying range is going to become a successor of -200LR. In addition, compete with airbus A350-1000 directly [15]; [29] [41]. The guest room width spreads by thinning it and the improvement of the insulation material of the inner wall in 19 ft 7 in (5.97m) from 777 19 conventional ft 3 in (5.87m). Even as for the economy class of 10 horsefly rests, a large seat of width 18.0 in (46cm) becomes in this way feasible [15]; [42].

777-9

777-9 is 400-425 seats of body extension type by two classes constitution. The flying range is 7,600 nmi (14,100km); [43]. At the number of seats and a point of the full length of the body, it becomes the maximum twin-engine plane passenger plane in the point of service. 777-9 starts production in 2017 and is going to go into service in 2020 [29]. The guest room width of 777-9 realizes an extensive guest room as well as -8 in 19 ft 7 in (5.97m) [15]; [42].
