In about B.C. 1000, the first immigrant appeared in the area from the ティベレ upper part of a river basin including around Assisi to the Adriatic Sea. They called person from Umbria (Umbri) built the small village which became a fortress on the hill. In about B.C. 450, an Etruscan gradually took these villages.

In B.C. 295, the Roman put central part Italy under the control with fight (English version) of センティヌム. Romans built the town of アッシシウム (Asisium) on the plateau of the スバシオ foot of a mountain. Castle wall and open space (form, current コムーネ open space Piazza del Comune), theater, circular arena, Minerva God can look at the Roman remains at the time now. In addition, in 1997, a Roman village at the time was found in the good state that harked back to Pompeii, and a room decorated with a mosaic and a fresco was confirmed.

For 238 years, the town of Assisi was converted to Christianity by the work of the ルフィヌス (Rufino) (en) bishop. ルフィヌス becomes a martyr in コンスターノ (as for (Costano), the present bus tea a yes the separation village of the bra), but it is said that the Assisi temple of Confucius ((en), sun ルフィーノ temple of Confucius) was built according to the tradition on the grave.

Middle Ages

For 545 years, トーティラ of the east goat kingdom destroyed most of the towns. A follower of the Kingdom of Langobard received Assisi afterwards and entered the follower of the スポレート dukedom of the frank person afterwards.

It became the independent city state, and, in the eleventh century, this town took the situation of ギベリン (emperor group), but, therefore, was in a relation to dispute intensely with Perugia of Guelf (Pope group). The fight of ポンテ sun Giovanni that it is young Giovanni D bell null Dawe, and (Francesco of のちの Assisi) became a captive is one act in such a rivalry. Francesco puts the body in a beggar in this as an opportunity and will establish "small sodality" (Francisco society).

In the thirteenth century, I expand the city settled in a castle wall of the Roman Empire period till then to the outside of the castle wall. In this time, the city was included in the Papal domain. Rocca マッジョーレ which was the fortress of the emperor was plundered of in 1189 by a citizen, but I was rebuilt in 1397 by the life of the nuncio Jill デ Albornoz (English version) cardinal.

Assisi was governed by Perugia before long and subsequently was put under the control of some absolute monarchs. It is Lord of Milan Francesco スフォルツァ which is ビオルド ミケロッティ (Biordo Michelotti), Jean ガレアッツォ Visconti and the successor, ヤーコポ ピッチニーノ (it:Jacopo Piccinino), the Lord of ウルビーノ フェデリーコ second (Federico II da Montefeltro). The fashion of the plague of 1348 caused big damage to age.

I it after the early modern times

In the times of the Pius second (the reign: for from 1458 to 1464), Assisi became the Papal domain again.

In 1569, the construction of the Santa Maria デッリ Ann Jeri temple of Confucius (it:Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli) was started. From the Renaissance period to the next times, a residence (palazzo) group of the 17th century tells you about Assisi having developed peacefully.

Today's Assisi is the town which many pilgrims led to the legend of St. Francisco from this town visit. This saint collects veneration as an Italian patron saint with St. Catalina of Siena as the founder of the Francisco society again. In addition, from the legend that I preached a sermon for a bird, I am memorized as the person who loved nature (to non-Christ person) by many people.
