West Timor (do Timor, Indonesian: Timor Barat, Dutch: West-Timor) is an area of the eastern part of Indonesia. It is located in the western half of the Timor Island and is some east ヌサ トゥンガラ states. metropolis is クパン (Kupang). The area is approximately 15,850 km2.

Among West Timor, there is the オエクシ = Ann beno which was metropolis of Netherlands Timor of the colony times in an enclave of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

History

The colonization rule of the Timor Island by Europe began in the 16th century. A Portuguese declared possession of the Timor Island in 1520, but a Dutchman started domiciliation in West Timor under Netherlands East India Company in 1640 and sent a Portuguese. After Netherlands East India Company was dissolved in 1799, it became the same Netherlands territory. Based on a treaty (I sign in 1859 and make modifications in 1893) concluded with the Netherlands between Portugal, a boundary line of East-West Timor was selected as 1914 afterwards.

The beginning of 1942 during World War II, Japan occupied the Timor Island. Japan declares surrender, and, on August 17, 1945 only three days later, the Republic of Indonesia declares independence. The Netherlands was going to possess West Timor again, but I entered into a guerilla war with Indonesia and declared it when the Republic of Indonesia assumed West Timor some east ヌサ トゥンガラ states in 1950 after all.

Inhabitants

Approximately 1,950,000 people (2005) live in West Timor, and the most are Austronesia system, Papua system, Polynesian systems. Although overseas Chinese (Chinese) is few, I live.

The main religion of West Timor is Catholic (56%) Protestantism (35%) and Islam (8%).

Economic

The unemployment rate of West Timor amounts to 10%. [1] The per person income remains to approximately a one-third of the overall average of Indonesia, too, and the economy of West Timor greatly falls. [2] In addition, the economic focal point of West Timor is クパン and the outskirt. [3]

Industrial

A sandalwood is removed, and the amount of production of the sandalwood oil is the number one in the world.
