Michael Daniel Higgins (English: Michael Daniel Higgins, Irish: on Mícheál D.ÓhUiginn, April 18, 1941 -) is the President of Republic of Ireland. I was elected in a presidential election held on October 27, 2011 and took office as the ninth President on November 11. Higgins has a poet, a sociologist, a writer, the face as the broadcast person as well as a politician. I acted as the president (different from the party leader) of the party until I left the Irish Labor Party to run for a presidential election. It was Lower House (Doyle air orchid) member of the Diet of the ゴルウェイ west electoral district election until February, 2011. I acted as art, culture, a Gaelic minister from 1993 through 1997.

Career as the politician
When it was a mature student of Irish national university Galway school (UCG), Higgins became the party member of the フィアナ foil party, but changed immediately in the Labor Party. I ran as Labor Party ticket, but lost a general election of 1969 and 1973. To the one who campaigned for Higgins then, there is Aymon Gilmore that it was the party leader of the Labor Party in students of UCG later in those days. リアム Koss went wrong in 1973, and Higgins was appointed Upper House (Shanna air orchid) member of the Diet by Prime Minister Eve. When Higgins won the Lower House in a general election of 1987, I maintained a seat until 2011. I achieved the entry into the cabinet as art, culture, a Gaelic minister in 1993. For term in office, Higgins abolished Broadcast Act Article 31 (Shin Fain party member and article limiting access to broadcast to IRA member) that caused controversy, and brought back the Irish movie agency which had dormancy and opened a TV station (current TG4) specialized in Irish. I succeeded a seat of the President of Labor Party from プロンシアス デ rosser in 2003 and acted as a spokesman of the Labor Party about the diplomacy again.
Higgins suggested the intention of the candidacy in a presidential election of 2004, but gave it up because the Labor Party decided not to put up a candidate.
In October, 2010, I announced that I did not run for a general election of February, 2011. Higgins lived in an apartment of simple 2DK in the Dublin city until this time.
Activity except the politician
Higgins is human rights activist and writes it about Nicaragua, Chile, Cambodia, El Salvador, Iraq, the dispute of all parts of the world including Somalia. In 2010, I perform a speech in support of Gaza freedom fleet in the Lower House. In 1992, the peaceful activity in all parts of the world was accepted, and it was the prize winner that the prize for Sean MacBride peace that the International Peace Bureau of Helsinki established was the first. About the American foreign policy in the Ronald Reagan government, I took the critical viewpoint definitely.
Other than the career as the politician, Higgins is a poet, a writer, a broadcast person. I contribute it to a publication of politics and the philosophy in idealism, sociology in the literature, the wide field including the dependence country overconfidence symptom in the politics. In British channel 4, I acted as the TV film script and presenter titled "another emerald island" under the theme of Montserrat. In addition, I produce a documentary about a life of the brown (Irish politician) in RTÉ in Noel. For a poet, I announce the work to various magazines and announce three books of verse of (2004) in (2004), "a sterile season" in "betrayal" (1990), "a season of the flame".
Higgins is interested in sports and goes to the racetrack of Galway in every summer and acts as the president of the Galway united of league of Ireland (Irish soccer league) (honorary post).
On April 5, 2014, the contribution to film industry and the videoland was evaluated and won the honorary prize of the eleventh Ireland Academy Award [1].
Family
I got married in open home party in friend's house in サビナ coin and encounter, 1974 of the actress. There is a child of 3 man one girl among two people.
