"紹巴抄" (しょうはしょう) is a commentary of "The Tale of Genji".

Summary

I was written by linked-verse poet Joha Satomura. I compiled a lecture of The Tale of Genji by Kinneda Sanjonishi who received it for (Eiroku era six years) in 1563, and began work for (Eiroku era seven years) in 1564, but it is thought with (Eiroku era eight years) spring establishment in 1565 [¹]. Many manuscripts exist, but not only the titles of a book are different, but also contents have many differences. Is admitted that the Edo era begins a trace of the correction in after ages [²] that is published as a printed book (an old printed book and plate-making book) earliest, and came to be read widely in the commentary of The Tale of Genji by the description of the printed book [³]; [⁴] [⁵].

Title of a book

This book is often called by a name "紹巴抄" where I put the name of the author into now, but as follows various titles of a book are touched by a manuscript to exist. However, considered that the title of a book attached by the author of the cause cause was an extremely general name such as "源氏物語抄" which was used a lot for a title on the first page [⁶].
