The Toyota K type engine (Toyota K engine) is a system of the water cooling inline four-cylinder gasoline engine of Toyota Motor Corporation made until (2013) in 2013 from (1966) in 1966.
Production was continued for a long term, but the car use could not finally fit exhaust emission regulation in 2008, and it was the production end (2007) in June in 2007, but was produced as an industrial use for the work car only for a 5K type for forklift "petit runner G" made in one Toyota Industries Corp. continuously afterwards until March, 2013.

5 bearings type is adopted from a design stage whereas the model is developed as an engine for first (KE10 type) Corolla in 1966, and Nissan, the type A engine series of the engine for competing Nissan, Sonny adopted 3 bearings type at first [1].
Structure in itself deals with speedup as a high mount camshaft type in spite of being simple turn flow (counter flow)-style OHV mechanism as well as the Nissan type A series that almost came up in the same period at a camshaft position. It was lightweight in a compact and a low center of gravity and excelled in reliability and the durability and it was in those days when first Corolla was released and comprised the performance of the standard that was high as an engine for the compact cars.
There was the plan to misappropriate a P type of the old generation engine which was frequently used with the light truck for cost reduction at the time of the first Corolla development, but Tatsuo Hasegawa who was the chief examiner of the Corolla development team turns down P type diversion plan flatly saying "I cannot cope with the heavy engine of such an old model in the speedup times" and testifies that I let you develop the K type which is the new engine of the high speed (high turn), light weight type by oneself.
