Sakura Bridge and 櫻橋 (November, 2014)

Sakura Bridge (I do a fence mule) is a bridge of Chichibu municipal road main line 51 built over Arakawa between Bessyo, Chichibu-shi, Saitama and Chikatomachi [1]. 櫻橋 (I do a fence mule) which is an old bridge of the Sakura Bridge appears on the side of upper reaches immediately as a bridge of Chichibu municipal road center 625 [2].

As for the Sakura Bridge, the full length of the bridge is the longest for the bridge of the municipal road of the Chichibu-shi management at 278.0 meters [15]; [1].

Ferry called "the handing over of the cherry tree" was founded at the slightly position of the place where current 櫻橋 appeared of upper reaches to plan Shimobeppu district (former Bessho-mura) and mail of the old Omiya volost in (1897) in 1897 [16]. The ferryboat set up wire rope from the both sides and navigated a higher-tone noh song ship of the iron Japanese-style ship that I tied the rope and ship to and went back and forth on the opposite bank because the user of the ferryboat reeled a rope by hand [17]. It was started the construction of the bridge (1956) from October 1 in 1956 [22] and was performed (1957) over May in 1957. 140 meters of extension, construction of the left bank side installation road of 7.0 meters of width were carried out by a degree (1957) in 1957, too [25]. As for the degree, the construction of 358.64 meters of sections was performed (1958) among 520 meters of extension [26], right bank side installation roads of 5.0 meters of width 1958 [25]; [note 1].

A completion type of the bridge was held (1958) from 11:00 on November 8 in 1958, and one hundred people concerned attended including the mayor [26]. As for the ceremony, formal opening of a bridge by the three-generation family was performed after Shinto ritual of 修祓 by the Chichibu Shrine chief priest and 玉串奉奠 of the construction person who has rendered distinguished services [26]; [note 2].

A bridge was inaugurated entirely (1959) on March 31 1959 [22]; [13]. Material costs were 10,418,000 yen, and the total business expense including an installation road was 24 million yen, and the share of tax revenues was 12 million yen [27] [note 3]. In the outskirts, a bench cliff is seen in the both sides in river terrace area. The bench cliff of the right bank side has a big pitch difference, and there is a city area of Chichibu on the bench surface that had the bench cliff. (shore of valley forest) is seen in the riverbank forest by the immobilization of 洗掘現象 and the gravel of the building a breakwater by the river channel drop [33].
