Okuchi-shi (I die and do it) is a city located in the northern basin of Kagoshima. I founded it and merged with Hishikaricho, Isa-gun (2008) on November 1 in 2008 and became Isa-shi.

Geography

It is located in the place of approximately 75km from inland, Kagoshima-shi of Kagoshima at the north end to the north. The north side contacts with Kumamoto, and the east side slightly contacts with Miyazaki. The Sendai River runs through a city. The southeastern part of the city limits that are a central city area makes a part of the big basin, and altitude is around 180m. Because is an inland basin, in the winter, is less than 0 degrees Celsius in minimum temperature; because become often below the freezing point, and the snow is often seen, is called "Hokkaido of Kagoshima" with Hishikaricho and Fukuyamacho, Kirishima-shi presentation district.

Great merger of the Heisei

By "a great merger of the Heisei," it merged with adjacent Hishikaricho, Isa-gun, and it was "Isa-shi" and the plan that it was, but, as for the failure, the merger meeting, it was the abolition for a lot of objection by a referendum in Hishikaricho in May, 2005.
