The stamp that the Okinawa stamp (I get up and cut a rope) was used in Okinawa under the U.S. forces rule. I call it the Ryukyu stamp (りゅうきゅうきって), but may use Okinawa stamp and the Ryukyu stamp in a different meaning to mention it later. In Japan Post, I use the word the Ryukyu stamp, but this is a meaning of the wide sense. Except some exceptions, the Japanese Ministry of Finance Printing Bureau (current National Printing Bureau) printed the Okinawa stamp. It is a dead country.

Definition
Okinawa stamp (Ryukyu stamp) of the wide sense
I point to the stamp published by mainland return of May 14, 1972 in Okinawa from the Okinawa occupation of U.S. forces of 1945. A letter called "Ryukyu mail" becomes available.
Okinawa stamp of the narrow sense
The stamp which was published in Okinawa (including the Amami group of islands) under the U.S. forces rule by June, 1953 by U.S. forces occupation of 1945.
Ryukyu stamp of the narrow sense
As for the thing of the early period of stamp which the postal administration station of the Ryukyu government (later a Ryukyu postal administration agency) published, B is yen-based, and, from July 1, 1953 to May 14, 1972, there is the amount of money indication that the thing of the latter period is based on the dollar (cent). It was only for June 3, 1972, and use wanted to be prohibited (in other words, a stamp of 日琉両方 was available and converts it for 1 cent = 3 yen during from May 15, 1972 to June 3.), and the subsequent holdings stamp was changed for a Japanese stamp at Naha, Miyako, Okinawa, each post office of Yaeyama until all prefecture post office, August 31 until June 30.
Remarks
I place Okinawa stamp as some American stamps by the Scot catalogue (Scott catalogue) used for a stamp collector of the whole world widely (placed in the page of Ryukyu Islands).
Summary
I added Amami groups of islands that were Kagoshima position, and Okinawa after the Okinawa war end was governed separately in four districts. The thing which I stamped with a private seal and a seal of approval of the civil administration prefecture Director of Communications Division of each group of islands was used for the stock of the prewar stamp then. What I stamped with a seal is to distinguish it from a stamp of the stock which a commoner had. I order a new stamp from Japan expressly for last years, and there is the thing which stamped this with a seal. Therefore, there are a great many kinds, but there are few existing things.
In Kumejima, there is a stamp (Kumejima stamp) which a postmaster gets the permission of the United States Armed Forces, and made prints with mimeographs originally.
From July 1, 1948, an original design and a stamp by the "Ryukyu mail" indication came to be published. When four group of islands government was gathered up in 1951, and Ryukyu provisional government was made, a Ryukyu postal administration agency to gather up mail business was made, and Ryukyu provisional government suffered from the mail the jurisdiction of the Ryukyu government when the Ryukyu government was established on April 1, 1952, the following day, and the Ryukyu stamp with the letter of "the Ryukyu mail" was published afterwards.
Because the Ryukyu stamp was the design which reflected Okinawa original culture, popularity increased as a year passed and played a big role in foreign currency acquisition. However, use was stopped with return of Okinawa on June 3, 1972.
Some suppliers of the mainland fanned it from 1971 through 1973 saying "it is not published in future by return" and they could stand in line for a stamp published in a speculation purpose newly very much and became a social phenomenon. Buying suppliers from the mainland clustered at last in front of a post office, and there was the case which I bought at a price of 3 times of the net price. The collected stamp was sold in department stores of the mainland and was made a deal at a large amount of price far apart from the actual situation in this way. For example, a seat was the hand of the stamp speculation supplier than 10,000 yen, and ten pieces of things that I could purchase the "守礼門復元記念" stamp of 1958 for 200 yen were sold. The books which drove speculation were published a lot for the heyday and did it, but I slumped very much from about May, 1973, and the people who held a big loss appeared one after another. The primary schoolchildren who exhausted a New Year's present became a cage, the social problem in them [the source required]. In addition, these stamps (unused article) far apart from the net price return to a normal valuation now at one time, but the forgery of the postmark is discovered in a part of the used stamp because, on the other hand, the popularity of the used stamp knowing the use actual situation at the time well increases.

The commemorative stamp that became the non-publication
- I am going to publish it on Hirara-shi, Shimojicho merger memory - October 30, 1961
- I memorialized a merger planned on the same day, but Shimojicho assembly canceled a merger agreement just before a due date and, therefore, became the non-publication (in addition, Hirara-shi, Shimojicho became Gusukubecho, Ueno-mura and merger, Miyakojima-shi in 2005). 500,000 pieces of number of the print
- I am going to publish it on pongee of Yonezawa memory tree-planting ceremony memory (3 cents) - March 16, 1967 on a day
- I planned publication in commemoration of the 17th tree-planting ceremony, but after stenciing an original drawing, and distributing it to publication guidance, it was brought into question that the national flag of Japan was located above the Star-Spangled Banner. As a result of discussion with the U.S. civil administration prefecture utilities station with Ryukyu postal administration agency, publication cancellation was decided on March 2 and was announced on 7th. It was a word, it "had a problem globally that the Star-Spangled Banner and the Japanese flag of the design were single color" on this occasion that reasons included. 2 million pieces of number of the print
- I am going to publish it on 政府立公園 series, 西表政府立公園 - August 30, 1971
- I planned publication as a kind of the 政府立公園 series. However, the loss in weight of financial assets of Okinawa was predicted by weak dollar with the foreign exchange floating rate system introduction. I was converted into a certificate stamp of the circulation dollar confirmation work carried out at suggestion of the Ryukyu government in order to minimize this. Because it was a plan to put on the paper money directly at first, it was printed 50 million pieces, but was changed to the method to stick on an identification of confirmation just before enforcement. Therefore, the market price becomes cheap because the only use finished exists in a non-publication stamp, and the unused wide flow product circulated. 295,096 pieces of number of the publication
Footnote, explanatory note
- Because it becomes the Okinawa stamp of the ^ last, a letter of "final issue" is drawn on the design part of the stamp.
