Lewis ハイン is photographed in child laborer, 1911 of Yazoo City

The town which came to be called Yazoo City was established by the name of an HANNAN's bluff in 1824. It was changed the name later with Manchester and was changed to current Yazoo City more in 1841. It became the county seat of the Yazoo county in 1849.

In 1853, yellow fever was popular in Yazoo City. After the Confederate Army lost New Orleans at the time of Civil War, a temporary shipyard was made in Yazoo City of the Yazoo. This shipyard was destroyed in 1863 by the Federal army, but the Confederate Army regained Yazoo City soon. In the next year, the Federal army returned and burnt down the whole almost all towns then.

Yazoo City was rebuilt, but yellow fever was popular again in 1878 and caused victims more than before. In 1904, most of the Yazoo City center were destroyed by a big fire. I have had this fire if it depended on a local legend because a witch retaliated against the death. This was really because it had set fire to the house with the boy who played with a match. The fire spread in an instant, and three-fourths of the town was destroyed including most of the houses. The fire stopped in a canal, and a new Government building built in 1872 for the county Government building that the Federal army baked at the time of Civil War was saved, and ten prewar houses which was near were saved.

In 1927, Mississippi deluge brought the big damage in the whole Mississippi delta, but Yazoo City is restored and is protected to an effective flood control system now.
