Local administration division of Italy

Local administration division of Italy

I show the details of the local administration division (Italian のちほうぎょうせいくかく) of Italy in this clause.

The jurisdiction of the Republic of Italy takes the hierarchical structure called state - prefecture - コムーネ basically. As of May, 2015, 20 states are in the whole land, and there are 110 divisions of the prefecture equivalency (one state where a prefecture is not established in 99 prefectures, 10 big cities, a low rank). A prefecture has the old history for a system, and the state becomes the form to bundle up some prefectures.

"Rule (Disposizioni sulle cittàmetropolitane, sulle province, sulle unioni e fusioni di comuni) about a big city, a prefecture, the alliance of コムーネ and the merger" is established in 2014, and 10 big cities (Cittàmetropolitana) start as the wide area local government of the prefecture grade in 2015, and the reorganization of the jurisdiction is pushed forward.

State

The state (レジョーネ, Regione) is 20 in the whole land of Italy in a primary jurisdiction of Italy. I may be translated as "a district", but am the wide area local government having chief (presidente), council (giunta), an assembly (consiglio regionale) of the election by popular vote. The state is prescribed by Republic of Italy constitution Article 114.

There are usually state (I may be usually translated as a state) (regione a statuto ordinario) and special self-government state (I may be translated as a state in particular) (regione autonoma a statuto speciale) in the state. Of these, it is self-government state especially to have had a system earlier.

In the self-government state, five were in Italy, and Friuli-Venezia Giulia was established in Republic of Italy constitution Article 116 especially Sicily, Sardinia, Trentino-Alto Adige, Aosta Valley in 1963 in 1948. I receive the yield of taxes distribution except the value added tax in national taxes collected taxes in each area where the monopolistic legislative power in the constant field is accepted, and the self-government state has district autonomy usually bigger than a state especially.

The state was usually established in 1972.

In the largest state, Piedmont, the populous state are Lombardy. There is the least Aosta Valley together, and the population has fewer area and population than Monza (the 33rd place national with population) which is simple コムーネ. There is a state capital in the state, and each state capital serves as the prefecture capital of the prefecture to belong to (except state capital Aosta of Aosta Valley where but a prefecture is not installed in).

It is each Italian state and list of state capitals as follows.

01.   Piedmont - Turin

03.   Liguria - Genoa

Prefecture

A prefecture (professional Vin tea, Provincia) and the wide area local government of the prefecture equivalency are 110 in the whole land at the end of 2015. But the unification process of the prefecture is pushed forward in Sardinia, and the prefecture grade jurisdiction is counted with 107 in Wikipedia for Italian as of September, 2016.

There is a council (giunta) appointed by an assembly and chief (presidente), the chief of the public electoral system in the prefecture, and there is Governor election for bureaucrats (prefetto) appointed besides by the government (the Department of the Interior). There is a city (Capoluogo di Provincia) becoming the core in the prefecture and is translated as "the prefecture capital". As for the name of the prefecture, the cases that the name of the prefecture capital is just used for are often found. In addition, there are often the plural "prefecture capitals" in one prefecture. The Trieste prefecture that is the smallest prefecture is narrower by area order than コムーネ of the 100th place. It is イゼルニア prefecture that there is little population.

The State of ヴァッレ Aosta is special positioning, and the prefecture is not established, and it is said that a state serves as a prefecture by the statistics for convenience.

It was 95, but I increased in decentralisation after the Local Government Act revision of 1990, and, as for the number (I include Aosta Valley as a prefecture) of the prefecture, it was 110 for a long time at the end of 2014 since 1974.

In the Sardinia self-government state, the process of the integration and abolition of the prefecture grade jurisdiction is pushed forward. The local autonomy top is a transition period line me the setting of the jurisdiction that is new in February, 2016 (as of September, 2016). In the new system, Sardinia becomes five prefectures of 1 following big city.

Big city

The big city (Cittàmetropolitana) was prescribed as a kind of the local government by Republic of Italy constitution [1], and it was provided that I had the authority that was equal to a prefecture in the local autonomy unification code [2], but was not put for a long time.

In 2014, the rule of the big city was practiced by "the rule about a big city, a prefecture, the alliance of コムーネ and the merger" as the wide area local government of the prefecture grade. Ten prefectures of Rome prefecture, Milan prefecture, Naples prefecture, Turin prefecture, Bari prefecture, Florence prefecture, Bologna prefecture, Genoa prefecture, Venice prefecture, the Reggio Calabria prefecture shifted to "a big city" in 2015.
