William Stern
William シュテルン (William Stern from April 29, 1871 to March 27, 1938) is a German psychologist and is a philosopher of the personalism. The pioneer of the study on personality and intelligence. The founder of the concept of the IQ.
Life
I am born in Berlin as a son of reformist Judaist Sigismund シュテルン. First name "Luis" of official excellent Luis William Stern (Lewis William シュテルン) used second name "William" which may be the name that I took from the relative as a personal name except that I write it down early with "L." without almost using it, but is English name "William" not normal German name "Wilhelm" in Germany.
I acquire a philosophy doctorate in Berlin University in 1893. I do a birch from 1897 through 1916 at a breath bamboo pipe-stem university. The variableness sound generator (tone variator) which I invented the other day in 1897 did great contribution for a study of the sound perception of the human. In 1916, I was appointed after World War I end as a successor of the experiment educationist Moi man by the psychology professor of the new Hamburg university and acted as the chief of the psychology research institute here until 1933. The child psychology was one of the fields of object, too.
Because it is a Jew, I escape from the Nazi Administration in 1933 and move to the Netherlands followed by emigrate to the United States. I acted as a lecturer (professor) of the duke University in the United States and was in this position until I died in 1938.
I married psychologist Clara Joseephy (known for the name of Sophora flavescens シュテルン) and got three children and, based on the record of observations of the diary of these three children, studied child psychology such as "language (wife Sophora flavescens and joint work, 1907) of the child", "recollection memory, testimony, lie (wife Sophora flavescens and joint work, 1909) in the infancy", "infant psychology" (1914). Wife Clara is honored publicly as the world's first woman psychology researcher. Later-born Gunther Anders (nom de plume) was known for a philosophical essayist as a thinker, a poet and was the first husband of political philosopher Hannah Arendt. When "general psychology based on the personalism psychology" was reprinted after World War II, "the infant psychology" that the development record of the one's child era became the data for the study as for him and the last book put preface, and they talk about father.
