Robert Gordon (Robert Ira Gordon, March 29, 1947 -) is an American rock singer. I start from punk rock and play an active part in the rockabilly style from 1970s through 1980s. Besides, I played wide music until alternative lock, rock'n roll.
In addition, I appear in some works as an actor.

The 1950s through the 60s

I am from Maryland Bethesda of the suburbs of Washington D.C.
In 1956, I want to be rock'n roll to listen to "Heartbreak Hotel" of Elvis Presley on a radio at the age of 9 years old [1].
He listened to Gene Vincent, Eddie Coquelin, Jack Scot, the music of the star including Billy Lee Riley at the time from one end, and he was affected.
I played Tony of "West Side Story" in drama club in Che B Chase Senior High School of Bethesda.

In 1964, I make my debut as a singer of the コンフィデンシャルズ at 17 years old.
"Money" recorded the cover of the hit including "There is something on your mind" at the time on コンフィデンシャルズ which featured Gordon (Bob Gordon) as a main singer "Summertime" (these music did not watch sun until his of the 40th anniversary CD was released in 2004).
However, from this time, I am absorbed in R & B and the soul music of the artist black than rock'n roll. I was not very interested in British インヴェイジョン at the time, and soul singers such as James brown, Otis Redding were preference.
He watched much R & B singers in spite of being work close in famous Howard theater of Washington D.C.

Times, he who were threatening of the late 1960s when the antiwar mood increased worked as a guardsman of Washington D.C. I state, "I did not want to go for the Vietnam War." later [1].

1970s

I move to New York in 1970 and join punk band Tuff Darts several years later.
In 1976, I play with other local bands in live house CBGB of New York. Three pieces of music of Tuff Darts was put in live compilation album Live at CBGB's where I put the design in.

Gordon and encounter mutual understanding that Richard Gottehre of the record producer takes Tuff Darts in the next year and works hard at a rehearsal. Two people agree to make a rock'n roll album of the orthodox school. Gordon suggested the appointment of the guitarist link lei which had already come legendary in those days, and Gottehre contacted a lei immediately, and the project started.

In 1977, Gordon and the two of the lei release debut album "Robert Gordon with link lei" from a private stock record. The reputation from a commentator was good, too, and the sales was passable, too.
I released single "Red Hot" for death and the same period of Elvis Presley and was unusually broadcasted on a radio for the rockabilly number frequently.

In 1978, second album "Fresh Fish Special" is released by private stock. I appointed chorus team The Jordanaires which had acted as a background of Elvis Presley, and Bruce Springsteen wrote a new new song "Fire" for Gordon and played the keyboard once ([1] that pointer sisters covered "Fire" later and recorded the hit that was higher than a rise, an original to the second place of the hit chart).
However, the private stock label goes bankrupt while an album records brisk sales.

I took heart and transferred to RCA record, and the long-time dream that oneself belonged to to a label same as longed-for Elvis came true [1].
Gordon who split with Ray after a promotional tour makes a combination with Chris Spedding as a new guitarist, and 3rd album "Rock Billy Boogie" is released in February, 1979 by a disagreement.
"The Catman" was taken up on a radio other than a title truck "It's Only Make Believe" "Walk On By", and the album entered the chart in top 100 of the hit chart.

1980s

Performance in league with Chris Spedding in Japan

Next product "Bad Boy" of the release fails commercially in 1980, and Gordon breaks off a combination with Spedding. I make Danni ガットン and a combination newly.
I released last album "Are You Gonna Be The One" in RCA in 1981, and single cut did "Someday, Someway" of the Marshal Crenshaw product and pushed it up to the 76th place of the chart. The album made a profit of 200,000 pieces, too and became the hit of the Gordon maximum.

I performed a tour energetically with ガットン in the early 1980s, and live album "The Humbler" which gained a best performance there was released by NRG record.

However, I am discharged by the problem of the budget for next album in conflict with RCA, and after that Gordon enters during a long silent period.

2000s

Is Gordon who withdrew from the front line through the 90s, but revive by a combination with Chris Spedding in 2005; is a start on a tour in Europe. I released DVD "Rockin' The Paradiso" which recorded a live in Amsterdam in Denmark, Sweden and a Finnish live highlight from announcement others, French label Last Call from label Climate Control of oneself as "The Reunion Tour".
Gordon and Spedding carried out a large-scale tour from 2005 through 2009 and invited The Jordanaires which acted in the same play in "Fresh Fish Special" after death of Elvis again again in commemoration of the 30th anniversary and released the album which covered music of Elvis from Rycodisc affiliated with Warner (in spite of a strong push of Rycodisc, the album still less sold that much).

(I forgot the lyrics, and the scene which I could rub with the staff on a stage was outstanding) which fell into disorder at one time gives condition by the most recent live (lives carried out together in Toronto in April, 2010 in August, 2009) considerably and is regaining a singing voice of the heyday.

I announce the original work from minor label and some of past works are released again and continue being active steadily now.

Influence

I had a big influence on the pub Locke group, and the rock'n roll of the old style became the central figure of the rockabilly revival of the early 1980s with strike lei Katz.

Movie

I played with Deborah Harry of Blondie in "Unmade Beds" of director Amos Poe who featured the theme of flat new wave in 1976.

In 1982, I play with Willem Dafoe (the first lead) in bikie movie "Loveless" of the style in the 50s. Gordon wrote most music of the sound track, and a sound track had better reputation than a movie main volume for a commentator. The movie failed for running a show in those days, but won popularity as cult movie later.
