It is software to calculate a huge sparse line in a linear algebraic equation, and MUMPS (MUltifrontal Massively Parallel sparse direct Solver) is used by a parallel calculation. This software was developed by a project called PARASOL from 1996 through 1999. Research organizations such as CERFACS, IRIT-ENSEEIHT, RAL were concerned with this project. MUMPS implements the Frontal solver method, and this is a kind of the method of elimination of the gauss for sparse lines. A finite element method in particular causes the sparse line. MUMPS is written by Fortran 90 along MPI. In addition, I use BLAS and ScaLAPACK for calculations of the lurk line. After 1999, MUMPS is supported by CERFACS, IRIT-ENSEEIHT, a French national information science automatic control research institute.
There is the importance of MUMPS in a fact to be the implementation that is the public domain of the multi-Freon Tal method.
