Geography
Position, expanse
In コムーネ of the northeastern part of Gorizia prefecture, distance of approximately 32km includes it from approximately 5km, state capital Trieste to north-northwest from prefecture capital Gorizia to the southwest. It is located in the イゾンツォ river left bank and is adjacent with Gorizia City, and a border with Slovenia lies in the east of コムーネ.

Geographical features
In the northern part of コムーネ, ヴィパーヴァ valley (Vipava Valley) and level ground of the イゾンツォ abandonment area named generally spread out, and there is the southern part of コムーネ on the plateau of the カルソ plateau (karst plateau).
イゾンツォ river flows through the northwest of コムーネ. ヴィパッツォ river (Vipava (river)) which rises from Slovenia to central part of コムーネ, the hem of the カルソ plateau But, I cross it from the west to the east while meandering and join the イゾンツォ river.
There is Mt. sun ミケーレ (Monte San Michele, 275m) in the southwestern part of コムーネ, the neighborhood of border with サグラード. This whole area is known as the site of a hard-fought battle at the time of World War I.

Central village サヴォーニャ ディゾンツォ (Savogna d'Isonzo) is located in the northern part of コムーネ, and a city area spreads out from Gorizia [3]. The place name of サヴォーニャ comes from sovodnje meaning "junction" by Slovene, and the ヴィパーヴァ river joins the イゾンツォ river in the southwest サヴォーニャ village.
Along the ヴィパッツォ river located in the コムーネ central part, plains and the border of the plateau, there are villages such as ルパ (Rupa), petticoat (Peci), ガブリア (Gabria), Castile ルッビア (Castel Rubbia) from the east. ガブリア of the ヴィパッツォ Kawaminami bank is the north exit of ヴィパッツォ valley and the dollar valley linking the Trieste area. There is sun ミケーレ Dell カルソ (San Michele del Carso) on the plateau in southern コムーネ.
