レプトケラトプス (Leptoceratops) inhabited in one group (the genus) of the primitive corner dragon late in the Cretaceous in western North American Continent. The huge relative triceratops and fatty tuna Saul's inhabited the United States of the same period. The origin of the name is "λεπτο-(lepto-) of the Greek "= Which "got thinner" "small" saying "is worthless"; "κερατ-(cerat-) "= "Corner" and "-ωψ(-ops) When is three words of "= "face", and put it together; of "the sterile face with the corner" is meant [1]. The skull of レプトケラトプス is discovered in Alberta, Canada and Wyoming, the United States. It seems that probably they stand up only with a hind leg and run, and there was it. The length is approximately 2m, and the estimated weight is estimated during 200 kg from 70.

Discovery and subdivision (kind)
It was about 1910 that this small corner dragon was discovered, and, in the place, red Deer Valais, the detector of Canada Alberta were Barnum brown (as for the report 1914 four years later). The first specimen was only a part of the cranial bones, but C M スターンベルグ (Charles Mortram Sternberg) discovers the good fossil which is in a state more later (1947) (a document of this time does not have the extremely rare loss on earth there was the fossil every circle from head to foot). A fossil was found in the Bighorn basin of the northern part of United States Wyoming in 1978.
A genotype is L. gracilis. The document excavated in Montana in 1942 was named Leptoceratops cerorhynchos, but was changed the name later with Montanoceratops (モンタノケラトプス).
I systematize it and it
レプトケラトプス belongs to corner dragons (in the group of the dinosaur of the herbivory having the bill similar to the parrot, I prospered in North America and Asia of the Cretaceous). In this group, レプトケラトプス is classified in dinosaur of the genus Protoceratops department or the レプトケラトプス department which is an original course.
Eating habit
レプトケラトプス was herbivory like other corner dragons. "I was distributed only over the geographically limited place" and, in the Cretaceous, save the phanerogam, and it is thought that it was the fern which was the dominant plant of those days, cycad that they ate. レプトケラトプス would bite off a leaf and a needle leave with a sharp bill peculiar to corner dragons.
