"Ann (せんにちの Ann British: Anne of the Thousand Days) of 1,000 days" is an open history movie for 1,969 years. A story of princess Ann boo phosphorus of English king Henry VIII of the 16th century.

Hull Wallis production, Charles ジャロット supervision, universal movie distribution. Bridget ボランド, John Hale and Richard ソコロヴ dramatized the script based on a drama of 1948 by Maxwell Anderson. The dramatic blank verse style of original Anderson remains in several places such as monologues of Ann at the Tower of London.

Though a lot of negative reviews received this work, I was cited in the candidate of ten branches of Academy Awards and acquired Costume Design Award. By the luxurious advertisement campaign in Universal Studios, champagne and filet mignon were offered by the member of a selection committee of Academy Award [1].

A background and production

Drama "Ann of 1,000 days" who became the base of this movie was given the first public performance of in the Shubert Theatre of the Broadway on December 8, 1948. The direction was H C Potter, and Rex Harrison and Joyce Redman recorded the long run of 288 days disguised as Ann boo Lin with Henry VIII. Harrison got Tony Awards by this performance.

However, I needed time of 20 years by the filmization of "Ann of 1,000 days" because immorality, a bastard, a theme called the incest conflicted with an American filmmaking code. The filming of the movie was carried out in London and the Pinewood Studios and シェパートン studio.

Outline

England of the 16th century, king Henry VIII married wife Catherine of the older brother who died young and got a daughter. However, I wanted the boy of the heir and was bored by an older wife again by all means. In 1527, Henry falls in love with 18-year-old Ann boo Lin at first sight at the time of in the Imperial Court, but an older sister has laid a bastard as a lover of the King, and Ann who already had a fiance refuses that it is in the same circumstances.

Still not only the King does not give it up and let an engagement dissolve, but also commands Ann to enter a service as a court lady of the Queen Catherine in the Imperial Court. When Ann never lays the bastard to Henry who approaches to become a lover, I repeat it. I hit on an idea that Henry whom a son wants gets a divorce in Catherine and marries Ann somehow or other. Ann is surprised, but agrees to it.

However, Catherine is from powerful Catholic country Spain, and the Pope cannot recognize invalidity of a divorce or the marriage, and the ウルジー cardinal who failed in persuasion of the Pope is dismissed. The King decides parting with Rome at last. Ann inspired by decision of Henry accepts courtship at last. Henry marries Ann who knew the pregnancy before long secretly. Ann holds wonderful enthronement ceremony, but the people sneer "a prostitute of the King" in her.

Several months later, Ann gives birth to daughter Elizabeth. In dismay at Henry not having been a boy, the relation with Ann begins to cool off. The interest of Henry moves to lady Jane Seymour who is one of the court ladies of Ann. Ann who noticed it sends Jane out of the Imperial Court. However, the next pregnancy of Ann fails, too. It was a boy, but was born dead.

I let you find a method that Henry gives Lord Chancellor Thomas Cromwell an order and sends away Ann. Cromwell draws false testimony of the adultery with the queen by torturing a servant and arrests four courtiers on the charge of adultery elsewhere again. Ann was detained by the Tower of London, but thought that the beginning was a ridiculous thing. However, one's older brother has been arrested on the charge of incest, too and knows own fate at last.

Ann obtained an opportunity to question servant mark Smeaton who confessed adultery at a trial and let you admit that the testimony was a lie. When Henry who visited Ann in the evening gives freedom if he agrees that I invalidate marriage, she suggests it, but Ann refuses it. It was nothing but suggestion to assume daughter Elizabeth a bastard.

Ann beat at last and, a few days later, was fired. Henry was going to proceed to the hall then to marry Jane Seymour. When the signal gun which told execution of Ann resounded, Elizabeth worked hard at an exercise of the how to walk in the garden of the palace.

Historical verisimilitude research

  • It is lectured in various ways by a historian whether one of two children of older sister Mary boo phosphorus or both Ann do Henry VIII with father. As for Allison Weir, "Henry VIII shows doubt to being father of Henry Carey in King and the Imperial Court" (Henry VIII: The King and His Court) the book [2]. When it was Henry VIII, Dr. of "the reform (The King's Reformation) of the king" author G, William Hubert Burr nerd and "Ann boo phosphorus, the new life (Anne Boleyn: A New Life of England's Tragic Queen) of the English queen of the tragedy," two father insists on author Joanna Denny of "the plot (Katherine Howard: A Tudor Conspiracy) of Catherine Howard, テューダー".
  • Ann boo phosphorus might not be 18 years old in 1527. It is not recorded on her date of birth.
  • The end of the married life of Henry and Ann begins with a miscarriage of 1534, and the historical materials show that it was reality to the stillbirth of the boy of 1536.
  • The marriage of Ann became invalid, but mercy was not suggested in exchange for it. It was security of Elizabeth that was guaranteed by accepting a demand of the King.
  • Henry does not intervene in a trial of Ann, and there did not need to be the thing that Ann is given an opportunity to make cross-examination to a witness again. It was the day before restriction of Ann, a place of the games of the Umaue spear that King met Ann last.
  • In "Ann of 1,000 days," Ann is told to be innocent about all charges, and it is thought that this is right historically. When Ann was innocent about whichever of immorality, incest and the magic, I do the biography of Ann whom Eric W Ives and researcher David Starky of the Risa war Nic, Joanna Denny and テューダー dynasty wrote.
