Broom of Wittgenstein

The full-length novel that "broom (- broom) of Wittgenstein" was written by David Foster Wallace. Annual 1987. It was published by Kodansha, and it was translated by Son Miyazaki. The original title "the broom of the system" (the broom of the system).

It was written to the obi with "surrealism of multiplex structure, Vonnegut who harked back to paranoiac monologue, pin jun beautifully like wordplay and Nabokov like Joyce" at the time of the Japanese translation publication of 1999.

Outline

The heroine, the Lenora beans man went out to the dormitory of the older sister who went to the university in high school days to play, but it was missed by older sisters because "sign buttocks" and the schoolboy and others who approached broke.

The beans man who came of age works for the publishing company of Cleveland. It is love relationship and hears various conversation in bed with that boss. The great-grandmother who was a pupil of philosopher Wittgenstein stole the trial product of the new product of the baby food which a company did of the parents' house and disappeared at that time. And the situation advances to the unexpected direction.

Episode

There is the descent that the following paradox is talked about from the entrance of the character. It is what's called "barber shaving only the mustache of the person who cannot shave one's mustache". Will this barber shave one's mustache? The barber must shave one's mustache if a barber is "the person who cannot shave one's mustache". However, a barber is not "the person who cannot shave one's mustache" if I shave one's mustache by oneself.
