History

The Yamase village developed in comparison with neighboring municipalities. There is a mansion of Italy many waves Busuke in the Yamase village in the Edo era, and this is because there was the Tamura ironworks which was a company of the Tohoku eminence by the establishment of a business (1881) in 1881 from the Meiji era. (the Tamura ironworks operated it until 2001 while suffering from a labor dispute afterwards)

The government offices such as a village office, the District Forestry Office, the registry office crowded adjacent to the ironworks early in the Showa era. There was Iwase Elementary School in the opposite side across the road of the ironworks, but, in this ground, a town became the next village and the form to sit astride in the next Shimokawazoi village. Therefore, a village boundary change plan was given in Iwasemura assembly in 1946, but did not come true.
