Geography

It is located in the Shinagawa-ku central part. 100 town area north contacts with Nishigotanda, Osaki after this each close to a street. I receive Yutakacho about the southern part from the eastern part. The eastern part contacts with Nishishinagawa. Nishibe receives Hiratsuka, Higashinakanobu after this each close to second Keihin (in none as for the place name Shinagawa-ku). A Route 26 street (Tokyo way 420 Samezu Daisen Line) goes along the town level.

Between 1, Togoshi and 2, Togoshi, there is Togoshi Ginza mall. Many people visit this mall to buy daily necessities led by the inhabitants of the neighborhood. The Togoshi Ginza mall extends over adjacent Hiratsuka, Yutakacho as the place name other than Togoshi. The others are used mainly as a residential area except that a high-rise building is seen along second Keihin.

History

I am performed a first interview for Eiroku era two years by an Odawara people feudal tenure position book of (1559). I read with "とごえ" until the Edo era. In generous politics five years (1793) 山路勝孝 of the shipping agency including cultivation of a kind of thick-stemmed bamboo of the village became made specially in it, and spread in the Ebara county whole area around Himonnya-mura later.

It becomes the larger section of a village of the Hiratsuka village with (1889), the enforcement of the municipality organization in 1889. I filled up debris of Ginza, and, after the Great Kanto Earthquake, Togoshi Ginza began. From 1932 (1932) Ebara ward Togoshi-cho. I was divided into west Togoshi, east Togoshi, Hiratsuka, Ebara, Koyamadai (1941) in 1941, and 1, Togoshi - 6 was established in whole east Togoshi and west Togoshi, Higashinakanobu, a part of Nishishinagawa (1965) in 1965.

Origin of the place name

It is said that it comes from that this ground was Etsu Edo えの village. I am said to have become this Etsu Edo えが "Togoshi". There is the monument which ticked away an ancient poem said to be the ague of the name of Togoshi in Togoshi Yawata Shrine in the area. I refer to the ague of the name of Togoshi Yawata Shrine # Togoshi.

The topography opinion which considers "a door" to be abbreviation of "Tando" not "the Edo era" exists.

Traffic

As a railroad station in the town area, Toei Asakusa Line Togoshi Station is established under western second Keihin. In addition, Tokyu Oimachi Line Togoshi-Koen Station is put in the southern part.
