Secosteroid

Secosteroid

Cholecalciferol which is an example of the 9,10-secosteroid
A steroid frame. The bond between C9 and the C10 of the B ring of the steroid is cut and becomes vitamin D.

Secosteroid (Secosteroid) is a steroid having a "broken" loop. With secare meaning "cutting" in Latin as for the word secosteroid [1]: stere[1]: which means "a solid, three dimensions" in 241, Latin It comes from 129. The secosteroid is done with the derivative of [2], the steroid with the classification of the steroid [3].

The subclassification of the secosteroid is decided by the position of the carbon atom of the steroid frame becoming the cause that the cutting of the ring occurs. For example, as for the 9,10-secosteroid, between a carbon atom of the ninth place and the tenth place of the B ring of the steroid is cut. To typical secosteroid with cholecalciferol and vitamin D3 [4].
