Origin
She was born as the eldest daughter of 15 children of father イサック ラッチャー and mother Susie ラッチャー in Louisiana lake Charles. Her father was a bassist, and mother was an organist of the churches. She took a piano lesson, and her father formed a family orchestra as a pianist in her. When a pianist of the regular of マ Rainey of the blues singer was forced to a stay in the performance ground in front by a disease, she played it with マ Rainey at 12 years old. When I looked for a temporary pianist in lake Charles, the person of the neighborhood told that there was the girl who seemed to come in the piano players of the church in 代奏.
Measure debut
At the age of 14 years old, she joined her father in an Imperial band (Imperial Jazz Band) of Clarence Hart and I was in my mid-teens and married the trumpeter of the band once. Southern Rhythm Boys increased it in 1933 and performed arrangement and a large-scale tour. I moved a residence to Los Angeles in 1935 and, after Leonel Lewis and marriage, was given one son. She was affected by nut King Kohl who was a friend of Earl Hines, Duke Ellington and her, and a performance and the song of the swing piano have begun to develop a style of her own in a local small band at the beginning, too. Because the pianist of the band of father left it, at the age of 15 years old or 16 years old, I enter the successor, and it is said that I work and performed it to the Texas area. When there was her, bank ジョンスン of the trumpet was one of the members. In the home of Nellie, electricity was not pulled, but when I go out to the house where the electricity in the neighborhood comes to to play, I listen to the radio and recollect it when absorbed in a performance of are Hines getting on an electric wave from Chicago, but influence of Hines is surely indicated for her sharp piano touch in those days [1].
She was not known for a talent show of march of dimes so widely in Hollywood Senior High School until 1947 when she played it. This show was broadcasted on a radio, and her performance caught an ear of デイヴ Dexter that was the talent scout of the Capitol record. She contracted with the Capitol and recorded "Hurry On (Harry on down) to be downed" that acquired the second place in an R & B chart in "The One I Love (Belongs To Someone Else)" (the one eye love) and the first hit single. This product is released as debut music; of the million seller made a big hit. I released "He's A Real Gone Guy" (rial Ghosn fellow) which gained success by composition in the same way after this. This also got the second place in an R & B chart and got the 15th place after an advance to a pop chart.
In 1948, I monopolized an R & B chart hit more and released "Fine Brown Frame" (Fine brown frame) which came second in the third R & B chart. A chart entered it, and I performed a large-scale tour, and her song came to be known for a pop, jazz, an R & B chart widely. She wrote a song of most of songs of oneself by oneself and, unlike the artist of other many African-Americans at the time, held those publishing right.
In 1950, she dueted with nut King call in "For You My Love" (four you Mai love) and "Can I Come in for a Second". In the same year, her record began to be released in the U.K., and Jack Jackson who was DJ of the radio performed promotion positively. She on the variety tour of the Jackson chairmanship of the U.K. became featured, and gained success, and came back to the U.K. to perform a tour by oneself later.
In 1951, she performed recording of "The Birth of the Blues" and "I Want to Be Near You" with an orchestra for the first time, but her charm in the record purchase society faded, and the Capitol let you withdraw from her in the next year. She continued cutting a record, but it was far with the past success in Okeh, Decca, a liberty, the label of Imperial など et al., and her performance schedule was gradually reduced.
The stage of Los Angeles Musicians Union increased it by 1957, but continued occasionally playing it in New York until the 1990s. She gained success by real estate investment again and acted as an officer of the Los Angeles Branch of the side musician union (local 47) for many years since 1968 [1].
She is a sister of saxophone player Joe Wood man ラッチャー and is an aunt of jazz percussionist Daryl "Munyungo" Jackson of Latin origin.
