National highway No. 398 (398 ごう which how about to release) is a general national highway reaching Yuri-Honjo-shi, Akita from Ishinomaki-shi, Miyagi.

Summary

From Ishinomaki-shi facing the Pacific to Yuri-Honjo-shi facing the Sea of Japan, I am set as a road crossing the central part of the Tohoku district. A center part of the course is the highway where Hanayama Pass, 湯浜峠越 えで links Kurihara-shi, Miyagi to Yuzawa-shi, Akita down small (Yunohama highway). On the Miyagi side east than it, it links Kurihara-shi, Tome-shi, Minamisanriku-cho of the prefecture north to the east and west. However, there is National highway No. 45 connected directly with the north and south between Tome-shi and Ishinomaki-shi and is not the way where 398 is chosen as a street between Tome, Ishinomaki where it is greatly made a detour to the east. Motoyoshi Highway that enters at road, Minamisanriku-cho continuing to Minamisanriku-cho along the Sanriku Coast inland, and knows Tome from Onagawa Highway, Onagawa-cho leading to Onagawa-cho to the east from Ishinomaki-shi is the road which is important by the traffic between areas individually each. It goes to Yuri-Honjo-shi from Yuzawa-shi on the Akita side, but, except overlap section with National highway No. 107, it is in the sideway where I came off from Honjo Highway binding Yuri-Honjo-shi and Yokote-shi together.

Origin-destination based on government ordinance [1] [explanatory note 1] appointing the route of the general national highway and the progress grounds are as follows.

History

  • The enforcement [4] (1982) designated 1982 on April 1 as - public National highway No. 398 (Yuzawa-shi - Ishinomaki-shi).
    • I promoted old Miyagi prefectural road, Onagawa, Ishinomaki Line, Shitsukawa, Onagawa Line, Yuzawa Tsukidate Shitsukawa Line to a national highway.
  • The enforcement [5] (1993) designated 1993 on April 1 as - public National highway No. 398 (Ishinomaki-shi - Honjo-shi).
  • A landslide occurred by - Iwate, Miyagi inland earthquake (2008) in section across the prefectural border of Akita and Miyagi on June 14 in 2008, and Kurihara-shi, Miyagi Hanayama character Matsunohara - Hatato, Yuzawa-shi, Akita character Okuyama interval down small was closed to traffic entirely. In addition, the Hatato, Yuzawa-shi, Akita character Okuyama - Minase, Yuzawa-shi, Akita University bath (large hot water gate) down small was closed to traffic by night (from 17:00 to 7:00, the following day).
  • - large hot water road (Minase, Yuzawa-shi, Akita Okuyama grounds down small) is the whole line opening to traffic (2008) on October 10 for 2,008 years.
  • - Ishinomaki bypass (a south boundary mechanic ward: Hebita, Ishinomaki-shi - Minamizakai, Ishinomaki-shi section) is inaugurated partially (2009) on December 12 in 2009.
  • The repair work of the closed section caused by - Iwate, the Miyagi inland earthquake is completed (2010) on September 18 in 2010. General traffic was enabled with the whole line after an interval of two years three months. [6]
  • I suffered by a massive tsunami with - 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake (2011) on March 11 in 2011, and coast of Miyagi was closed to traffic. Some beams of new Ohashi, Kitakami near the new Kitakami River river mouth fall (it has been restored in a temporary bridge on October 17, the same year). Route situation

Regulation closed by 120 millimeters of precipitations consecutive in the mountains of Onagawa-cho - Ishinomaki-shi for 24 hours. Miyagi and the Hanayama Pass of the Akita prefectural border become the suspension of traffic in the winter season. In addition, east inland sea Bridge and the Nishiuchi Sea Bridge in Ishinomaki-shi can pass vehicles less than 12 tons of gross weight as regulation in whole year [8].
