Ito sound Jiro

Ito sound Jiro (mind Jiro, from June 3, 1891 to December 26, 1971) is a pioneer of the civil aviation of Japan. I established Ito airplane research institute and brought up many pilots and tried for the development of the domestic plane.

Origin

I was born in Ebisucho in current Naniwa-ku, Osaka-shi.

Toward the way of the aviation, I went to Tokyo in 1911 while serving in a merchant's family and was apprenticed to Sanji Narahara and helped the production of the plane of Narabara. I took the qualification of the private pilot and founded Ito airplane research institute in Mihama-ku, Chiba-shi as of February, 1915 when Sanji Narahara retired himself/herself from the aviation world and became independent.

I produced the Ito type whom own hometown named in 1915, Emi type 1, and I flew it, and January 8, 1916 Tokyo visit became famous as an aviator. When facilities were damaged in a typhoon in 1917, I moved the research institute to Tsudanuma in 1918. In the pilot whom I brought up, there are first Japanese woman pilot, Tadashi Hyoudo or Choichi Inoue who established Japan Airlines transportation research institute.

When Asahi Shimbun started East-West airlines society in 1923, the Ito airplane research institute provided an airplane, a pilot and performed private enterprise airline transportation. In 1930, I established a Japanese light flight club and I assumed Sanji Narahara a chairperson and contributed to the spread of light airplanes.

I got an aviation prohibition of GHQ after the war and retired myself from the aviation world, and I was engaged in reclamation with employees in Touho, Narita-shi, Chiba as "Emi reclamation association" in postwar period, and it was a farmer.

It was said that Ito just one welcomed that an airport came warmly while local people were at a loss when Toho was chosen as a part of the construction planned site of the New Tokyo International Airport, and a part cast the body in Sanrizuka struggle [¹], and it was the person who bound a site sale contract with New Tokyo International Airport Corporation together first.
