Ishikari-shi (I let you be and cut it and do it) is the western part of Hokkaido center, a city in the Ishikari Promotion Bureau jurisdiction. It is next to the north of Sapporo-shi.

Geography

It is the local government facing the only sea in the Ishikari Promotion Bureau. Along a shoreline in northern Promotion Bureau, I have long city limits to the north and south. The west faces the Gulf of Ishikari and has the Ishikari River river mouth. The east is the same as Sapporo-shi, and long Tobetsu-cho and northern part are mountainous districts of the Teuri Yagishiri quasi-national park according to the hot season and cold season, and the south contacts with Shintotsukawa-cho and Mashike-cho across Hassamu River, thorn Togawa to the north and south. In the southern part, the hilly areas including the Ishikari hill spread out in the northern part from dunes less than 10m above sea level and low land, the Ishikari River river mouth.

The heat and cold difference has effect of Tsushima Current by oceanic climate small and is relatively warm in winter. Still because influence of the heat island is relatively small, it is often cold from the Sapporo-shi center, and it is not unusual to be chilled to -10 degrees Celsius or less. I observe -23.1 degrees Celsius (2001) on January 19 in 2001, and it may be often cold to nearly -20 degrees. Because periodic wind from the northwest blows it across the Sea of Japan, there is much snow. In addition, it becomes the intense snowstorm when "Gulf of Ishikari small low pressure" is generated. But because a little under 90% of the total population of the city is concentrated in the area of former Ishikari-shi, and a large-scale residential area is formed as a satellite city of Sapporo-shi, and measures to snow are relatively substantial, they are not appointed particularly in the heavy snowfall area, but Atsuta ward and the Hamamasu ward are appointed in particular in the heavy snowfall area. Origin of the city name

History

Traffic
