Brief career history

I was born in ヒンガム of Massachusetts. I trained myself by the carriage painting business (carriage painte) of the uncle. I published "American birds", and the painting of the bird was accepted in John James Audubon that became famous and went together for the field investigation of birds as an assistant to the Missouri River in 1843 and performed the measurement and sketching. The record of スプレイグ of this investigation is left in the Boston アセニアム library. Kind of birds of the tree-pipit genus, Anthus spragueii were discovered in this field investigation, and the name of スプレイグ was touched. Some of figures of the birds which スプレイグ drew were placed in the book after Audubon, but it was not specified that it was a work of スプレイグ.

I described a botanical professor of Harvard University, EISA gray and an acquaintance, the plate of many botanical books of gray and others in 1845. There is the collection of work of スプレイグ in Boston アセニアム library, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Smithsonian Museum, Harvard University.
