The gas shielded arc welding (gas shield arc ようせつ British: gas-shieled metal arc welding[1] or Gas metal arc welding, abbreviated designation GMAW or GMA welding) is kind of the welding method of construction. It is a general word to mean the arc welding that I weld while performing block (shield) of a welding side from air with gas.

Because a high temperature and the metal that it was prevent oxygen and the one which is oxidized while reacting in the arc welding of the place that is welding technique using the heat of the arc discharge to occur by an electric current, as for the gas shielded arc welding, there are an inert gas and these such as argon and helium and mixed gases of carbon dioxide (CO2) to gas used by technique to perform while jetting inert gas (gas).

These gas is jetted for welded materials from the appliance tip having a system paying out welding materials, but these are released by environment while taking heat away while pushing air containing oxygen aside from a welding side. Therefore, ventilation is necessary when a person works. When they use the industrial robot, much ventilation is not considered. The gas can still less expect stable welding quality because this shielding gas is blown off in the environment with the wind although I am jetted by constant pressure. Therefore, the appliance which devised a gas jet method is seen.

Kind of the gas shielded arc welding

  • Classification by the method to weld
    • Tyg welding (the electrode welds it while adding 溶加棒 with a non-consumption type)
    • Mig welding (溶加棒自体 becomes the electrode)
    • Mug welding (溶加棒自体 becomes the electrode, and a flux is included in 溶加棒)
  • Classification with the gas to use
