The town where スタロガルド グダニスキ (Polish: Starogard Gdański) is vested in the east Pomerania district in northwestern Poland. The population is 48,328 people as of 2004. There is 50km to the inland from トルイミアスト of the Gulf of Gdansk coast.
It was in the Gdansk prefecture from 1975 through 1998, but entered the ポモージェ prefecture スタロガルド county by division reorganization. The license number is GST. It is the second town next to トチェフ in the コツェヴィエ district where a person from コツェヴィア lives in.

Place name
スタロガルド means "ancient city" (スタロ "is old" by Slav word, and ガルド is Slav word "a town") in Polish and グダニスキ is the 20th century to distinguish it from the place name of the same name and was added, and is a meaning of "one (wide area city) of Gdansk". In プロイシシュ シュタルガルト (Preußisch Stargard) of the German name called "スタロガルト of Prussia" have a meaning.
History
From an excavated article, the trace of the village of the Neolithic era 4000 through 5000 ago is confirmed.
The Lord of Pomerania グジミスワウ second granted a settlement called Starigrod to Knights of St. John of Jerusalem in 1198. It seems that the notation of Stargarde is 1269. I obtained the ヘウムノ method (the city right) from the Heinrich ドゥゼメール head in 1348.
Deportation was pressed for when merged with Poland in 1920 by Versailles Treaty whether the inhabitants acquired Polish nationality. A German was transferred in large quantities, and the population of the district that counted 17,165 years in 1910 decreased to 2,909 among other things in 1926 [1].
In the forests of シュペンガフスキ in the northeast, Germany slaughtered the Poles of 7,000 from September, 1939. 1,680 people of those were the patients of the mental hospital, and 500 children with a disability were murdered. 2,842 patients killed their life from 1940 through 1944.
