Baby boom

The baby boom (English: baby boom) is the phenomenon that a newborn baby birth rate (the birth rate) soars temporarily mainly in a specific area. In the narrow sense, I point to the population rapid increase phenomenon caused after World War II, and it is often conjugated by social phenomenon analysis and marketing by the population kinetics.

The first baby boom

The second baby boom

I often pointed to the time more than 2 million number of the birth from 1971 through 1974, and the number of the birth of 1973 became 2,091,983 people [⁶], and it was in a peak. But increase of the number of this birth is increase of the number of the birth that increase of the average number of births per woman is not taken to unlike the first baby boom. In addition, the generation born during this period is often called the lump of earth youth [⁷].

Baby boom after World War II

A baby boom occurred after (United States of America Bureau of the Census) or World War II end in 1946 through 1959 until before Kennedy Administration start for 18 years from 1946 through 1964. The American born at this time is considered to be approximately 78,200,000 people. There is much influence that I gave to the American society as this generation grows up, and a social phenomenon is shifting to Vietnamese pacifism and hippie culture, women's lib, the prosperity of the lock and the aging in the now generation. I call a generation born at time of Naoko a baby boomer (baby boomer). Particularly, I may call a baby boomer generation with "Baby Boomer cohort #2" or generation Jones in "Baby Boomer cohort #1", the next latter period in a baby boomer generation in the first half year born by 1955.

Echo baby boom

A baby boom quite occurred again from 1980s through 1990s. I may call a generation born at this time the second baby boom generation (echo baby boomer (Echo baby boomers) or merely echo boomer (echo boomers)) [¹⁰], generation Y, ミレニアルジェネレーション (ミレニアルズ). For details, refer to "en:Millennials".
