Baby boom after the World War II end
Because relieved people made a child for the verge where a soldier returned to from war and the end of the war when World War II (including the Pacific War) was over, the phenomenon that the population ratio was extremely in comparison with an anteroposterior generation high was seen worldwide. I was seen with the generation when I was almost born in early from the end of 1910s to 1920s, and a similar phenomenon got up to the generation who gave birth marriage at this time in North America, Europe, Oceania, all the countries of the world including Japan from about 1,946 years to about 1952. But it may be mixed up by a country and an area about the time.
Baby boom of each country
in Japan
- The first baby boom
A baby boom happened from 1947 through 1949 in Japan [1]; [2] [3]. The number of the birth surpasses 2,500,000 people for these three years and becomes the number of the birth of around 8 million people when I add it up. 2,696,638 number of the birth of 1949 is record highs in postwar statistics, and the number of this birth is approximately 2.5 times of 1,062,604 number of the birth in 2007 [4]; [5]. In addition, the generation born during this period is called a post-baby boom generation.
- The second baby boom
I often pointed to the time more than 2 million number of the birth from 1971 through 1974, and the number of the birth of 1973 became 2,091,983 people [6], and it was in a peak. But increase of the number of this birth is increase of the number of the birth that increase of the average number of births per woman is not taken to unlike the first baby boom. In addition, the generation born during this period is often called the lump of earth youth [7].
However, in Japan, I follow a course of the declining birthrate after the second baby boom, and the third baby boom does not happen as of 2016. Specifically, refer to "the third baby boom that lump of earth youth # disappeared" or "declining birthrate # Japan".

There is much influence that I gave to the American society as this generation grows up, and a social phenomenon is shifting to Vietnamese pacifism and hippie culture, women's lib, the prosperity of the lock and the aging in the now generation. I call a generation born at time of Naoko a baby boomer (baby boomer).
